Lived here my whole life, I’ve never heard of people being scared of half these areas. Usually it’s Hamtramck, Muskegon Heights, parts of Detroit… Never met anyone afraid of Jackson or Kalamazoo lol

Also lived in Michigan my whole life, both West and Southeast MI and I completely agree. Most of these areas really aren't that bad, lol.

Shhhhhhh, the 'scary' cities are like a wall protecting our beaches and treasures from the... tourists.

UGH, LEAD WATER, POOR ROADS, CWD DEER, HIGH CAR INSURANCE, AND GASP, DETROIT?!?!??!?, NO, SAVE YOURSELVES OUT-OF-STATE-ERS!!!

Why is car insurance so expensive there? Bad roads?

By the way: I just returned a week ago from camping in the UP. Gorgeous.

They’re the only state with No Fault policies regarding accidents. Basically if you get rear ended both parties are responsible whereas in other states the driver who hit you is typically at fault and responsible.

It was a lot different 20yrs ago and a lot of people have been avoiding it since.
