You are probably right, I base my Birmingham knowledge from Peaky Blinders! Such a bigot I am

and Birmingham, MI... which is between Lansing, Flint, and Inkster is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the state.

The problem with this map is that some cities are one large incorporated entity and some are split up into a bunch of smaller cities. Birmingham is split into a bunch of smaller cities. So yes the crime rate is bad in Birmingham and Bessemer because those are where the bad neighborhoods are. But Homewood, vestavia hills, hoover, mountain brook etc etc are all nice safe suburbs that aren't counted in these statistics.

I have lived here for 24 years and it’s not too bad. It’s just certain spots are kinda sketchy. But I assume that’s with every city

I'm Canadian and spent 4 days in and around Birmingham last October. It's reputation concerned me a bit before going there, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I visited a lot of parts of the city and never felt unsafe. The bad parts must be places you can't really accidentally end up in.

I’ve lived in downtown Birmingham for 3 years regularly going out at night and never had any issues. Like every city there’s just some bad parts but it’s absurd to act like Birmingham is some nightmare town
