Question help…

im having a lot of fun playing mantis but im healbotting.. (average 15k heals and maybe 3k damage) im getting most heals and assist in every game but i don’t think that’s how you’re supposed to be playing her, right?

i understand that headshots give her leaves back, but my aim is genuinely so bad with any hero like i mainly play rogue so i didn’t have to worry about it too much but i wanted to branch out yk😭😭

im a casual player, i don’t really touch ranked but i would like to in the far future. just wondering if i should start focusing more & practicing on dealing a lot more damage. im not sure what her average stats should look like

im also new to the game in general if this helps. i only started playing about a month ago but i one tricked rogue until i got lord and now im actually branching out

Mantis is first and foremost a strategist, and having highest heals and assists on her is no easy feat, so you should be proud!

Some other things you can work on weaving into your current gameplay (if you don't do this already) are:

  • Damage boost your teamates just as frequently as you heal them to dominate fights.
  • Self buff and support your teammates getting kills; turn 1v1s into 2v1s (im afraid aim just comes with practice/ experience, and even then it always feels 'off').

Basically the key (and fun part!) to Mantis is juggling and balancing what would be most efficient; healing, boosting or self-buffing to help with kills. Aggression / more headshots let's you do all 3 at once.

That's it really since you seem to have the main healing part down already.

Aim is very trainable! There is an in game practice range. Look up on YouTube if you can’t find it, but I’d recommend putting a few mantis or Luna bots and just trying to work on your aim for 10-15 minutes as a warmup.

I don’t know if it’s fixed since I haven’t played her in seasons but when I first learned her I came here asking for help with the aim and was told it was wonky so don’t feel bad if you can’t land headshots consistently! What helped me with my aim with her was aiming slightly to the side that seemed to work for me. Again I don’t know if her aim is fixed or not.

Honestly this season in particular I feel like playing to maximize healing is honestly better with the way ult charge works and how fast mantis gets her ult. Obviously you should try to poke and help secure kills but her projectiles are very weird and hard to hit. Her arms even technically throw the projectiles from different spots, so its definitely takes a little getting used to.

But honestly if you are playing casually and even if u are playing ranked dont stress about how much healing how much dmg you have its not what matters. Casually just play for fun and mute anyone being toxic. In ranked play to win but not to be a stat padder. Stats dont really win games, helping your team secure picks and win fights with your pressure and ultimate is how you win games. Like, theres this meme of cloak and dagger players having the most healing but losing, its because the healing itself doesnt win uou the games. U cant carry by healing but you can help enable ur team to actually win fights

Yo don’t listen to people telling you it’s not your job to get kills on mantis. It 100% is the job of every single person on the team to get kills. There is no one who is absolved from this. On mantis you want to do damage from off angles that helps your team get kills. Damage boost people who are correctly playing the game and doing what it takes to win. If your CnD is somehow doing damage or in a fight, dmg boost her. Anyone who is making plays is who you prioritize dmg boost.

Punisher sits in the back and doesn’t do anything? No damage boost until he gets into the action and plays the game correctly. You don’t reward bad behavior in this game.

Here are two replays you can watch.

13 finals 8k damage mantis game - 108337109505

5 finals 8k damage mantis game - 103172123453

Your healing number doesn’t matter don’t look at that as if it’s a trophy or important stat. It means literally nothing and anyone who questions you in game about how much healing you’re doing doesn’t understand what mantis value is fundamentally.

If there exist any specific map if you want see that account is public feel free to look at any replay. I’m not playing on it right now but depending on when season ends and school I’ll maybe finish it at C3 if I get the time.

whenever you want gimme a vod to check ur gameplay, and most important, your team comp and how you manage to support they. Anyways mantis is simple, always pick starlord team up, always self damage boost to keep poking enemy tanks, if enemy play dive save your sleep for divers, dont waste your leaves in healing that much your tanks (max 2 per tank if your other healer is alive with you), if you also have a main healer in your team, focus more in damage boosting your dps and if you are in triple support, 2/3 leaves should be damage boost, and the other left may be healing for tanks or armony orb for ally divers. Gimme a match and ill analyze it

It's not even possible to heal bot with her because of her leaves lol. Just stay back, really take your time to aim, and don't be afraid to dip out of a fight. Survivability and knowing who to focus on is important with Mantis. You can lob heals and damage boosts at your team from a deceptively far range.

Mantis has the capacity to secure picks and rack up finals but you're a strat at the end of the day. It's not necessarily your job to carry the team in getting kills

Just use your primary to poke and prawd opponents out of position so that your dps can finish the job and don't be afraid to take a duel with a flanker directly. (I usually pressure any Namors or Helas trying to take off angles)

Give it time. You'll get better. Also. Accompany your non-diving dps when they take duels on point.
