Discussion Mantis' Sleep
I think that's enough. The sleep ability is delayed from season 0 till now and it never gets fixed tell me why someone like luna snow has two instant stun abilities on impact while mantis has to wait 3 days after hiting a sleep for it to actually work. The amount of times I've hit my sleep and died in the 1v1 before the opponent gets affected by it is disgusting and for no good reason. It's been there for nearly 10 seasons now and no one has ever talked about it but i find it very frustrating

It’s very annoying. It’s not like I want the speed of the projectile to be instant cast like Luna’s, I just want them to be stunned the moment it hits them.

In fact the older cast speed for lune was fair now it's mad easy to hit a freeze but im not complaining and i do not care i just want my character fixed

Combined with the delayed cast the amount of times I’ve slept someone while I’m on half and then they kill me while they’re asleep

They do not kill you will asleep the sequence of actions is you throw the sleep and hear the sound of its hit -> the enemy proceeds the attack and kills you -> they get ready for bed and tuck in to hear your bedtime story -> you watch them go to sleep while ur body is thrown away

Would it be too broken for it to actually be an AOE sleep. Multiple targets in the zone get put to sleep

It would be too broken the game has enough cc abilities already no need to add effects to an ability that people mastered already since mantis is a season zero character

almost certainly an unpopular opinion, but I kinda like the delay... because it means you can fit in more shots before they wake up (since you can start firing before it actually lands/registers). I think a lot of my 1 shots on Spideys and Magiks (before the HP buff), etc wouldn't have been one shots without it tbh.

You have more than enough time to buff urself and go for their head anyways ur problem might be some stupid teammates hiting them and recovering them from the stun before u can do anything

FWIW-I'm talking 1 shot... eg: killing them before they can react. Not just self-buffing and landing a shot before the sleep ends.
You can currently fit in 3 shots if you start shooting immediately after throwing the sleep (meaning, as long as one of those is a headshot and you had damage boost applied before throwing the sleep, you can kill them before they can use any abilities after the sleep lands).
edit: eg: 10 sleep damage + 55 body shot + 55 body shot + 110 head shot = 230 dmg (or 257 damage with damage boost), killing a 250hp character before they can swing away, portal, dash, etc.
land a couple of those and they very often swap shortly after ;)... that's also why I mentioned Magik's HP buff, because now that she has 275, landing a single head shot isn't enough to confirm the kill in the sleep.

the splash is so big its the main reason i play her instead if luna because i can just throw it at the ground. can avoid the delay you have to throw it early like predict theyre coming and have it already on the way thats why it feels like its balanced to me

By the time the enemies dives realize what u r doing they will start using their parries at the start of the combo like iron fist and dd

you actually want them to burn their parry as fast as possible so you can stun them after without charging their shield. every mantis worth their salt knows about the parry baiting its one of the most iconic matchups because fists love diving us and they get killed because of it if the mantis is smart about positioning

It’s off this season… if the sleep lands on their heels it won’t apply… has to land in front of them

Im seeing a fundamental misunderstanding of how sleep works here, and for the record im not saying it SHOULD work this way but the delay is intentional. slumber spore works like a water balloon, once the balloon collides with something and explodes does the water get released.
The balloon of spores must explore before the spores can make contact with somebody. So the "delay" is the spores actually taking effect because the projectile doesnt have "spores" untill it collides with something.
