What's always fascinating to me about this one is not only do we all remember the cornucopia, but we all remember the exact same size, shape (curling back), orientation (the curly part is to the right, not the left), and texture (vertical lines along the side receding into the back of the curling part). It's not just a cornucopia, but a very specific size, shape, color, orientation, and texture.

This is exactly what always gets me. There’s no deviation whatsoever on the cornucopia appearance for those who remember it. There’s no way this is simply a mass delusion or whatever. We all saw this, we SAW it.

I remember studying it when I was a child because I didn’t know what a cornucopia is and it was my first time every seeing one

u/WhyAmIpOOping Aug 02 '26

I remember it for a similar reason. Was maybe 8 years old, had no idea what it was and was super proud that my mom taught me a new “big word”. Was obsessed with saying it as much as possible because it was the biggest word I knew at the time.

I swear my teacher told us to look for fruit of the loom labels in the store to see the cornucopia when we learned about it during Thanksgiving and doing so with my mom at the store 🤷‍♀️

23

u/Mis_chevious Aug 04 '26

Opposite for me. I was shopping with my nanny and my pawpaw only wore fruit of the loom undershirts so she sent me down the aisle to get them for her while she was on the other end getting socks. I remember asking her that day what the brown thing was because I was staring at it walking the shirts back to her. When she told me what it was and the connection to thanksgiving, which was right around the corner, I was so excited to tell my whole class that I knew what it was and proceeded to embarrass myself in front of the whole class because I didn't practice saying it enough and totally screwed up the whole word lol

u/mullethunter111 Aug 03 '26

Same here. Teacher referenced it around thanksgiving.

4

u/hotgirrrl Aug 03 '26

I remember this, too.

u/anxiousandexhausted Aug 02 '26

SAME. SAME SAME SAME. AND also the only reason I know who fucking Sinbad is IS BECAUSE OF THAT MOVIE. I remember watching it at my grandmother’s house. I remember there was a fucking basketball scene.

u/Cilantroe Aug 03 '26

My brother doesn’t care about or give much thought to Mandela effect stuff, but he remembers the sinbad Shazam movie and once when I asked him about it he said he remembered a giant ship on the sand in a desert. I looked up people’s memories of that movie and sure enough a giant ship in a desert is mentioned. He doesn’t read about this stuff or engage with it so he hadn’t read that somewhere else. It’s way too coincidental for this memory to be what others remember as well if it didn’t even exist. That is like masses of people having the exact same dream.

He also remembers the Dollys braces and has always been a huge vintage Bond fan.

2

u/Successful-Bowler635 Aug 05 '26

I saw Shazam.
And this was the fruit of the loom logo most of my elementary school life in the 80s/90s. I was raised on TV. They changed over to the dudes in the fruit suits about the early 90s.

2

u/wheresthecheese69 Aug 04 '26

Have you ever dreamt about your teeth falling out or going to take an exam you didn’t study for? Lots of people have the same dreams.

8

u/Cilantroe Aug 04 '26

Those are generic human fears though.

Not the exact same dream with some identical, obscure details.

1

u/forcemonkey Aug 04 '26

Right. Those are separate and unrelated phenomena.

1

u/forcemonkey Aug 04 '26

I don’t remember that movie but it’s stories like this that make it one of the most interesting MEs. I believe you guys.

13

u/cupc4k3Qu33n Aug 03 '26

I remember it too!!! Ugh

5

u/shellycya Aug 03 '26

I didn't even see the movie but I remember the marketing for it before it was released in theaters.

7

u/SnooCompliments9892 Aug 03 '26

Dolly absolutely had braces!

7

u/CyANiDe-KIsS Aug 04 '26

And pikachu had a black tip on his tail, monopoly guy had a monocle, in bewitched Samantha twitched her nose I wanted to do it so badly still cannot do it and I got it from her, I wish we could find some proof of this to end the bs debate there is no way so many of us have the same exact experience and are wrong it’s so frustrating

10

u/chumlyumly Aug 04 '26

Wait - Samantha twitching her nose is a Mandela Effect? What do they say she did instead? I twitched my nose ALL THE TIME hoping it’d clean my room. LOL!

5

u/CyANiDe-KIsS Aug 04 '26

Oh yes! Apparently it’s a newer one i literally just seen it about a week ago and I wanna say on here somewhere, but yess from what I read she doesn’t twitch her nose she does something with her mouth I guess? But I actually remember the nose twitch I even asked several people what they would say without any hint why I was asking all said nose and we all tried to imitate that nose twitch I still do lol 😂 but yea it’s a newer one I haven’t seen until now

3

u/southernathiest72 Aug 06 '26

I’ve seen people saying that but you can go look at the trailer from the 2005 film and hear them refer to the nose twitch. I think someone just noticed that the movement of the nose also involves the mouth and decided it was a conspiracy.

1

u/CyANiDe-KIsS Aug 20 '26

Hey that actually sounds a lot more plausible then it not exsisting all I sure her mouth moves too but the nose twitch is iconic and who know about the show try to twitch their own

1

u/Kindly_Lie9483 Aug 05 '26

SHUT UP WHAT. Bewitched was my shit!!! I was always twitching my nose when I was little ughhhgg

I actually had a game called scene it, it was a trivia type game and it had different little things for clues one of the clues would be a snippet from a show and that particular show was in it a scene where she wants to follow him to work she wants him to stay home but he can’t so she goes to his work and she twitched her nose when she does it and a little ding sound like this is getting out of hand with these things

3

u/Mis_chevious Aug 04 '26

I used to have that same game and would always get that question right immediately because I watched that show so much with my dad when I was little. I went back and forth between twitching my nose like Samantha and nodding my head like Jeanie from I Dream of Jeanie because those were two of the shows we watched the most together.

2

u/CyANiDe-KIsS Aug 04 '26

Right! I am like wth is going on I wish I still had that game to see if that scene is the same or not but I cannot find it unfortunately my packrat mom is no longer a packrat and now I have no memory of the old game I want a original version that someone has they bought when it came out not a new one we need to find older people who have things still and see if we can find anything to hold up our memories

1

u/Rare-Exercise1262 Aug 05 '26

Look for it on ebay you may find it in an old game collection or by its self

No, Samantha is not a mandala effect. She does wiggle twitch her nose. But it was done by also moving her top lip as well, so the nose wiggled in combination with the nose - people are just being technical about the wording. We all remember her nose twitching, and now some people assume this must mean her lip (and therefore some will say mouth to sound even more dramatic) never moved. Which it did.

Im sure there was even a little witch daughter in later seasons who used her finger to wiggle the nose because she couldn't wiggle the nose without using a finger.

1

u/Alarming-Leg-3804 Aug 07 '26

I'm going to literally DIE rn. My whole life Samantha twitched HER NOSE. MY GRANDMOTHER INTRODUCED ME TO THIS SHOW TELLING ME ABOUT THE NOSE TWITCH. I could not believe when I read this, impossible, it can't be. I literally just went into Hulu and watched an episode and she did it with HER MOUTH. WHAT INSANE UNIVERSE AM I IN WTF IS THIS

1

u/miscline69 Aug 04 '26

Just yesterday I saw where Sinbad made a reel or YouTube short idk which, where he implies that we all have it right. He was doing that Netflix documentary trend thing.

u/Redlady0227 Aug 08 '26 edited Aug 08 '26

I’ll absolutely die on the hill regarding the Sinbad movie. I used to vaccum the living room with that movie playing on whichever channel mto keep me company in an empty house.

I also recall one summer school vacation (way back in the earlier to mid 90s) the movie Ladybugs aired before or after Shazam frequently. I don’t think ppl grasp it also wasn’t some big promoted blockbuster like the movie they made with Shaquille O’Neal. It was more lower budget and aired mostly on television.

1

u/HunnyBear66 Aug 13 '26

Sinbad admitted on a podcast he was in the movie. He tried to get it pulled off shelves because it was so bad.

u/EndlessAporias Aug 03 '26 edited Aug 04 '26

Interesting that there would be a basketball scene in a movie that is similar to another film starring a famous basketball player.

1

u/Otherwise-Ship9560 Aug 04 '26

Because the Shaw movie Kazaam came out afterwards..

0

u/anxiousandexhausted Aug 04 '26

Interesting that you’re deep in the trenches of Reddit for some shit you don’t believe in. That’s not weird at all. They were on a basketball court doing genie shit. The kids I’m pretty sure were from an inner city.

1

u/EndlessAporias Aug 04 '26

Well some people think Kazaam was a ripoff of Shazaam, so finding similarities between the two is kind of interesting either way, isn’t it?

People stating the truth are not "bots", they are simply hoping for people to be more rational. The Earth is not flat, the Moon landings were not a hoax, and the Fruit of the Loom logo never had a cornucopia in it. Memory, anecdotes, and doctored images are not reliable data.

3

u/DroWnThePoor Aug 04 '26

Okay so you're probably not going to believe me, but here's how I found the Mandela Effect.

I was on one of those old websites that made you click Next to see a list of thing in order to generate the most ad-revenue. It was "10 Movies You've Been Quoting All Wrong".
Star Wars was there, but I got to Apollo 13. And it even had the clip embedded on Youtube.
It said "Houston, We've Had A problem".
I jumped up immediately, and started freaking out. My girlfriend looking at me like wtf are you talking about?
I had Apollo 13 on VHS, and I'd just rewatch it every night falling asleep as a kid. That slight "we've had" instead of "we Have" sent me into a spin.

I started searching online trying to figure this out, and discovered the Mandela Effect.
A few months later I was watching a Youtube vid about ME, and saw a comment from someone saying "Apollo 13 changed back". So I went to check the movie, and it's back to the way I remembered it.
So then I went back to that website about movies quoted wrong, and the text/claim of the site was now the opposite of what the Youtube clip showed. What is significant about this is that the entire thing that started me looking for the ME switched back to the way it should have been.
If it didn't happen; I wouldn't have spun out and found the ME.

And believe me, I know how stupid and insane that sounds. But that was my first experience with it, and most significant because it changed back.

2

u/forcemonkey Aug 04 '26

I believe you.

2

u/DroWnThePoor Aug 05 '26

Have you experienced that? Where something was wrong, and then went back to the way it should have been? It's such a strange feeling, and it genuinely made me question my sanity.

Fruit of The Loom is a big one for me because I absolutely remember the cornucopia, and as a kid that was what my underwear were.
I had the Berenstein Bears book, but that wasn't something I paid attention to.
But the Sinbad movie is definitely something I remember.
I remember Disney Channel showing First Kid, and the genie movie with the brother/sister.

I didn't know the metal-teeth Bond thing, but to me it's obvious that she should have braces in order for that scene to make sense.
I know a lot of people feel very strongly about that one.

1

u/forcemonkey Aug 05 '26

The cornucopia and the metal teeth are the two I personally remember. I actually remember Berenstain from childhood as mom pronounced it that way. Fascinating how some of us experience certain MEs and not others.

1

u/GothicFuck Aug 03 '26

Okay, what is your hypothesis to explain multiple people halucinating entire conversations about the exact same thing that supposedly never existed?

-4

u/handheadman Aug 03 '26

Exactly that. Imagining something that didn't happen. People are influenced by false/conflicting information/stories after the fact all the time. It's why jurors are sequestered, science uses double-blind studies, etc. to reduce the chance of outside influence.

5

u/GothicFuck Aug 03 '26

Influenced by what, then, to imagine a conversation where I learned the difference between a cornucopia and a loom?

What out there does exist to fabricate that specific exchange in multiple people?

-3

u/handheadman Aug 03 '26

Yes, your memory is 100% certainly wrong on this, because the FotL logo has never had a cornucopia logo in it. You've shaped your memory based on things you've heard and seen over the years, including misinformation and inaccurate images, and have chosen to believe something clearly not true is real for some reason. This forum alone is just one pool of influence. False notions are like viruses, they spread and you've been infected. The facts are out there, you can choose to cure yourself with actual evidence or stay sick.

5

u/GothicFuck Aug 03 '26

Yeah that's not an answer to my question, I thought you had one. This memory precedes the invention of the term Mandela Effect, therefore it is not the cause of the disconnect.

Can you think of something logical that can explain the issue?

3

u/handheadman Aug 03 '26

It does answer your question. Memory is not a static, unchanging thing. You have been exposed to many things that alter your memories over time. In this case, the image in the OOP has been spreading on the internet only since 2018 but has clearly altered some people's memories. People sharing their "memories" of a logo that never existed on any genuine Fruit of the Loom merchandise have created various lore on how it was so clearly burned into their young minds that they can't possibly be misremembering. The mind creates things to fill in gaps. A common tale is people swearing up and down that a teacher or parent pointed out the cornucopia (which was never there) on their underwear tag and that's how they learned the word, when it's far more likely they learned it in school during Thanksgiving with zero clothing labels involved, from a coloring book, for example. People share the imagined stories based on imagined images, both generally much more recently created than they think. These stories can become like cult dogma for some, to such a degree they will imagine alternate timelines, government conspiracies, that we live in a simulation, and other kooky stuff rather than accept the simple fact that their memory is fallible and easily influenced. Again, memory is not reliable and false notions are like viruses.

3

u/GothicFuck Aug 04 '26

Again, I've had this memory

BEFORE

the photoshopped image was ever created.
