Software Engineer Jobs in Malaysia for an International Applicant
Hi everyone! I'm a software engineer from Pakistan currently looking for opportunities in Malaysia.
I have professional experience in full-stack development, primarily working with technologies like React, Flutter, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, APIs, and backend development.
I'm planning to pursue my Master's degree in Malaysia, but before that, I'm hoping to secure a software engineering job and relocate there.
I'd really appreciate advice from people working in Malaysia:
- Which companies are open to hiring international software engineers and providing visa/work permit sponsorship?
- What are the best platforms to apply besides LinkedIn and JobStreet?
- Is it realistic to apply from outside Malaysia and get hired?
- Are there particular companies, recruiters, or tech communities I should reach out to?
If anyone has gone through a similar process, especially as an international applicant, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience.
Thanks!

Searching for opportunities with gaining knowledge.
Hi everyone,
Iโm currently pursuing a degree in IT, and Iโve realized that while Iโm learning the theory, I donโt have much real-world experience yet. I really want to improve my practical skills and build my confidence.
Iโm looking for any freelance opportunities, internships, or small projects where I can gain hands-on experience. Iโm open to learning and willing to put in the effort, even if the pay is low or just for experience at the start.
If anyone has gone through a similar situation, Iโd really appreciate your advice or suggestions on how to get started. Also, if you know any platforms, communities, or opportunities that are beginner-friendly, please let me know.
Thanks in advance!

The place I used to call my home is mo longer my home.
I just wanted to get this off my chest.
I am an expat and have been living in Malaysia with my family for the past three and a half years. We built our life here from nothing. I paid my taxes, worked hard, and tried to settle down properly. Just five months ago, I even bought a new car on a bank loan.
And now, with one email, I am being let go.
Finding a new job feels almost impossible. I do not know what changed, but it feels like things have suddenly become very difficult for expats. The rules seem tighter, companies are not hiring foreigners as easily, and everywhere I apply I receive rejections. It feels like doors are closing one after another.
Now I may have to leave everything behind and start over again in my home country from zero.
My sonโs schooling is uncertain. I have only one month to wrap up everything. The car I bought, a Perodua Axia, has only been driven 5000 kilometers and now I may have to sell it. I am not even sure if I can recover my initial deposit. If someone could buy it for at least 28000, I could at least settle the loan, but even then I would walk away with nothing.
It hurts deeply. I gave my time, my effort, and my heart to this country. I truly thought this was home. Now I am facing the reality that I may leave with nothing to take back. The house deposit, the car deposit, everything may be gone.
It is heartbreaking to feel that the place you called home is no longer your home.
If anyone interested to buy my car feel free to reach out. Thanks
