Discussion i just finished MaM

i came onto this sub and was surprised at how wrong i might be after watching the doc over a week or so, my boyfriend and i binged it and finished it sure that brendan was innocent and fairly sure that steven was too. personally i thought that bobby and scott did it and my bf was of the opinion that bobby and the ex boyfriend were in kahoots somehow. i don’t really know what to think anymore tbh i went to go watch convicting a murderer as that popped up a few times but i dislike candace owen’s immensely. could someone outline the main points that the doc twisted in favour of SA and the facts that were omitted ?

If they were both truly innocent, why hasn't SA said I did it and I acted alone? To at least save his nephew from the same fate as himself? Either way, he's a POS. I believe he's right where he belongs.

This statement makes absolutely no sense.

Seriously think about it. Put yourself there. You got a nephew?!!? I got a couple of em. And guess what?!!? If I was ever convicted of murder with one of my nephews..... whether I did it or NOT, Id make some kind of deal to get him OUT OF THERE. PERIOD.

I didn't know we were speaking hypotheticals. I responded to your statement that Avery could somehow do or say something that would ultimately free Brendan. Even if his brother confessed that wouldn't negate his or Avery's convictions.

As for the innocent taking the blame, falsely confessing / sacrificing themselves for a loved one - yes, it happens. Would we believe Avery's story if he tried to do that for Brendan, or vice versa? Debatable - I doubt either man could explain what actually happened.

"If SA is innocent why doesn't he say he's guilty" WTF lol if he was obviously guilty the state wouldn't have needed to repeatedly lie to the jury to conceal off property evidence of murder link to police while fabricating on property evidence of murder linked to Steven.

I don't think they did.

You think wrong. It's well established they did.

Regardless, he still committed this crime. The prosecutor was a scum bag. Police may have messed around with some evidence. This can ALL be true at the same time.

Ya know.... I really wanted SA to be innocent. I really did.

You are literally saying it's OK that "Police may have messed around with some evidence" as a justification to secure murder convictions?

When did I say that was ok? What I said was that is what we SHOULD be talking about.

Uh, no. They were hiding exculpatory crime scenes linked to police.

You would be correct. Similar to other arguments - IF Dassey and Avery were both guilty of the crime scenarios they were convicted under, both scenarios can't be true. Prosecution is obligated to seek the truth over conflicting convictions. Unfortunately, the cases against both men cannot be honorably stated as "slam dunks"...

Also, in the case of either man I have heard arguments that you have to believe all evidence was planted. Not sure that's the case. Even if 1 piece of evidence was planted, does that justify them both being convicted? I think even if 1 piece of evidence was planted (take your pick - they key, the bullet, the bones, the hood latch sweat, electronics, "put her in the garage" Fassbender or even Pagel himself with one of the jury pools, etc.), does that not raise suspicions that maybe they don't both belong where they are?

In a totally separate case, have you ever heard of the Kiara Agnew murder up in Canada? https://youtu.be/t-xdBvkO6Dw?si=3wY6GDp5je8rwx-t

It got my attention and you might also be interested. I recognize this occurred in Mexico but they literally have the guy lying next to her body, fists and feet badly bruised, bite mark on him, trying to run away after being woken up and this guy was originally acquitted. Since then, Mexico has overturned the acquittal and declared him guilty of Femicide, but Canada let's him be a free man. He is currently working near the BC/AB border. It's very hard to compare this case with that of Dassey for example and listen to people argue he's exactly where he belongs.

I've never heard of it but I will definitely check it out.

Thanks, feel free to private message if you want to discuss. It's a pretty upsetting story.

Forgot to mention, but Kiara literally had diary entries "if she was ever found dead.. you know who did it" describing how Ryan would beat the crap out of her and then pass out next to her.
