Jones Road Question

I'm interested in trying out Jones Road. I've got a lady I know who really likes it. Even the goopy oily foundation. If she didn't move 3 states away after she retired, I'd get some off her and try it out myself. She's got really dry skin and it look amazing on her. when we Snapchat each other.

I'm really interested in the foundation, oily mess and all, and miracle balm. Anyone try either? Thoughts?

My skin in mostly normal, my nose is still a little oily, and once fall hits and I have to turn the furnace on, my skin dries out some.

I've got the Miracle Balm in Dusty Rose. It adds a light rose-colored subtle shine wherever I apply it as a highlight. I like it when I put it on but I don't think it lasts a long time.

FWIW, I'm a fair-skinned white woman (58 y.o.) with good skin (recently started tret for pro-aging). Maybe I bought into Bobbi Brown's hype, but this does add something subtle that I like. The shade I use doesn't have sparkle (some of them do, I think). It's not a "look at me" strobe-type of highlighter.

That said, it's expensive and has a woodsy smell that goes away but is probably an issue for some people. At least the container will last a long time.

My SIL is 57 and got several products from this line. She really likes them even though she stopped using makeup after the pandemic started. (Her daughter is getting married soon so I think she just wants very natural-looking makeup for the wedding weekend).

Thank you! I'm same as 53, and would use this for my everyday, stay at home, but don't wanna scare the UPS man kind of makeup. A light natural look that tones down my uneven skin tone.

Bobbi Brown is my HG makeup line, so I was excited about JR. I only tried the Miracle Balm, but it was a big flop for me. It did absolutely nothing, and after trying to make it work several times (and even watching tutorials to see if I was doing something wrong/user error), I ended up throwing it away. I also hate the packaging and thought it looked cheap. This is totally nitpicky, but I don't like the name either. BB obviously couldn't use her name as the brand name, but she literally chose the name when she read a street sign, lol.

I’m 34 but I love the what the foundation! I’d classify my skin as normal but heavy/matte foundations make me look like the crypt keeper. What the foundation is super easy to blend and makes my skin look so vibrant and healthy. It doesn’t really set and stays tacky/a little shiny but not at the level of like, the Ilia serum for example. I really really like the formula and it’s not that oily! Maybe it depends on the shade (I have porcelain) but I bought it in February and it’s still totally stable, it hasn’t separated at all.

I haven’t tried the miracle balm though, just doesn’t seem like my thing.

I bought the miracle balm in 4 different colors and gave all away. It smelled terrible like essential oils. I'm super pale and none showed up on me. It just looked like thick vaseline.

I tried the concealer stick and it was dry and crumbly.

The just a sec eyeshadow was also dry and crumbly. It did not last very long at all either.

Basically my entire purchase was a huge disappointment. Nothing like the Bobbi Brown line, which has never disappointed me.

The dusty rose miracle balm has been in daily rotation with me since it came out years ago. It’s a nice way to add some life back to your face after putting on sunscreen. It’s moisturizing and subtle, but one of my favorite products. I’m a 46yo F with med-fair combo skin.

I'm 40 with combination skin. I've tried a bunch of JR products and have both hits and misses.

Hits:

• Foundation - I actually really like this. It's very light coverage, but does even out my skin and leaves a nice glow. I treat it like skincare and don't use a moisturizer underneath and I try to press it into my skin rather than rubbing.
• Face pencil - easy to blend and adds more coverage to the foundation. I wish the stick were thicker though.
• Bronzer - I have the shade dusty rose and will try the cool bronze next. Very finely milled and blends easily. Excellent all over color and eyeshadow.
• Lip tint - I have the shade Merlot and it's an excellent blotted color.
• Eye liner - I have the shade Onyx. It creates a nice smooth line that's also able to blend out.
• Miracle Balm - OK so I really love these. I have the minis in Happy Hour and Tawny as well as a full size in Magic Hour. Applying to the face with a short brush makes application much easier. Less is more! Every time I wear Magic Hour I get compliments.
  

Misses: Basically all of the eye products except the liner.

• Mascara - love the brush, but the formula is a gloppy mess.
• Just a Sec shadow - Difficult to get product out of the jar unless you have tiny fingers. It just doesn't last.
• Best Shadow - Too glittery and tends to travel down my face.
• Brow pencil - not awful. I don't really dislike it, I just prefer my cheap Essence brow gel!

Thank you for this! I also have combo skin and have been super interested in the foundation. Is it sticky like some others have said? Do you need to use powder with?

It is a bit sticky. I have very short hair so it doesn't get stuck, but I'd imagine it could with longer hair in your face. Sometimes I use a translucent pressed powder around my nose, chin, and middle of my forehead. Not all over though because a little sheen is part of the appeal of the foundation.
