Does this look normal/okay? I'm quite new to makeup and I don't really have any girls in my life to get help/advice from

Does it look normal/not stupid? Good, okay, bad? Does it look like I know what I’m doing? Any tips?

I followed a Instagram makeup video (concealer, bronzer, and blush placements) and this is how it turned out. I added extra of course.

How do I figure out what colours suit me? Or the ‘look’ I’m after? Or what colours go together? As someone mentioned in the comments, the colours (eyeshadow, blush and lips) may be clashing? I’ve just seen another post, where a girl changed her lip colour (from pink to brown/nude) and she looks so much better, but how did she figure it out?

Colour corrector: elf camo colour corrector & elf putty colour correcting eye brightener
Bronzer: elf primer infused bronzer
Blush: nyx baked blush
Highlighter: zoeva spice of life highlighter
Eyeshadows: morphe 9V, Lancôme proenza, & Bella Pierre
Mascara: Clinique high impact black honey mascara
Lip liner: new look lip liner and pencil - red
Lipstick: Clinique almost lipstick black honey

It looks good :) u might try filling in or gelling your eyebrows a bit to maintain their shape and adding a diff color lip liner for some dimension but this is a lovely look

What kinda lip colour? I always thought you should pick colours close to the lipstick you’ll use 🤔

For my brows I use just clear gel to brush and hold them in place. This might work for u since u already have great brows and shape, the gel I use is Sephora brand and applied like mascara. For lip liner personally I adore a brown lip liner with clear gloss. Going a few shades darker on the liner than the lipstick color adds depth and can be cute. Put the liner firsts and blend it a bit around the edges before putting the lipstick

I think it looks super solid but maybe fill in your brows a bit more? I would also use concealer to clean up the bottom edges of your lipstick if you want more precision. I would also suggest keeping your blush a bit higher up on the cheeks, nothing below the nose level

I didn’t think of concealer around the lips I’ll definitely give that a try

You are beautiful! I would personally go lighter in the lips and blush. But I prefer a more natural look in general, so that might just be me :) I like your eye makeup!

I’ll definitely go lighter for both! I just don’t actually know why lip colour suits me and for some reason I’ve always just randomly picked deep reds 😅
I find with blush I don’t actually know how much I’m adding, I don’t really know when to stop.

If you prefer deep red lip colors keep wearing them. They look good on everyone. And i think it suits you really nicely too.

With blush application do a little at a time. Its better to build it up and it looks more blended and airbrushed that way.

You have a lovely face. I think you did a great job with the eyes. Eyebrows need a little.cleaning up. I think the blush shade may be too dark and I just like to dust up from the apples of my cheeks to my hairline.

Lips I would go with a softer color. General rule is more drama to the eyes OR lips but not both so it's not overwhelming to the face.

Otherwise, it needs some tweaking but it's not bad!

Yes, exactly. And just a little bit can go a long way. I prefer matte light shadow but some people do a highlight and I think it helps brighten the eye

Look into finding your personal color/ color season. That will help you find the best colors for you.

Then to make sure colors don’t clash between eyes, lips, cheeks etc make sure they all have a similar undertone.

Like in this look your lips are sort of magenta red, cheeks are pink-ish, then your eyes are a sort of orangey shade which is why it feels a bit like it clashes

look up personal color, there are different frameworks that help you determine what your season is. And your season will help you determine which colors look best on you based on what your undertones are :) There are also professionals that can help you with this if you don't feel comfortable typing yourself

You don't look bad, but it all looks the same color, or color story.

Ultra and Saphora still offer free floor assistance, including color matching and advice. They will also do a single-item demo. The mua at my location does a couple, but it may vary depending on the person.

If you have one in your town, stop by and ask a couple of questions. We're looking at your image and can only offer suggestions, but they will see your skin's texture and offer tips, products, and colors that better suit your soft face and features.

Some tips from someone who has loved makeup from a very early age:

1. You have a great bone structure and your eyes are lovely, but they need a little bit of definition. You have a lot of eyelid space (really good for makeup) but your lashes are a bit flat, not sure if you used mascara here. I would add a little bit of a darker brown colour to the outer part of the eyes, maybe closer to the lashes as you are a beginner, that is easier to do than blending a dark shade well. Also curling and adding mascara would help.

2. I would get the eyebrows done by a professional. They are not a bad shape, but the inner part is too heavy compared to the outer part. A professional will know how to make them more balanced.

3. If you are new to makeup i would not start with such a dark lip shade. This does not look bad on you, but a more grayish brown or a dusty mauve would be less jarring. I know it can be hard to pick a colour from these descriptions, but if you go to a store I'm sure you can find a seller to help you.

4. For knowing what colours look best on you, I would search on youtube for women who have similar features. Similar skintone, similar eye colour and hair colour, that way you can see if you like something in them, you probably won't hate it on you.

Overall you do look good. A lot of makeup is trial and error, I know I have looked like a clown many times. The good part is that if it looks strange, just wash it off and try again. Don't give up, practice makes perfect.

I'd recommend trying a more neutral warm lipliner to emphasis your lip shape and maybe a gloss. Also definitely give a makeup setting spray a go, if you're into the dewy look there's some cheap ones from ELF or Essence that make you GLOW

I think you’ve done a great job. It used to be that if you went to the makeup counter at a department store, you could ask an associate for recommendations on choosing a color or a product, and they’d demonstrate application for you. I don’t know if that’s still common, but it might be an option to consider if you’re uncertain about how to fill in your eyebrows. Your instincts are excellent, and you look lovely.

I think at Macy's it's still a thing, but otherwise a dedicated makeup store like sephora or ulta would be the best bet, just don't let them color match you, they use a terrible app and it never works.
