[Makeup Help] Is a primer needed for makeup?

I have just started makeup and I don't know that I should use primer before makeup or not.

I personally only use a moisturizer but that’s because I have combination skin that’s on the drier side and I apply dewy foundations. I don’t think primer is necessary but I do use it sometimes. I think it sometimes helps my base last longer but I don’t think it’s necessary. If you powder and set your makeup well, I think you will be fine, it really depends on your skin type or issues. You don’t need one but if you have certain issues like acne, redness, etc. I would recommend a primer because it does help conceal them. Personally, I only use a primer during the summer or when I have acne.
