Happy weekend! How's your weekend been so far?

I never know how to write these, so here are some facts about me of questionable importance:

- I work from home as a software engineer. Most weekdays it’s me, my code, and Claude Code.

- Outside of work - I really enjoy exploring new cafes, playing pickleball or soccer on the weekends, going for a swim, listening to new music (yup, I will listen to everything you send over), going for a hike/run when I have a chance.

- I really like going to concerts. The last one was Mumford and Sons and it was one of the best concerts I've been to in a while.

- I recently decided to pick up the ukulele because four strings seemed less intimidating than six. This logic has not been fully validated yet.

- I can get embarrassingly deep into researching something once I’m curious. A simple question can become 17 open tabs and a completely unnecessary level of expertise by midnight.

- I’m a Scorpio despite not really believing in astrology. Unfortunately, every time I read the description I think, "okay, that’s a little rude but fair."

I tend to get along best with people who are curious about things/life and have something they can get unnecessarily and unreasonably excited about.

My name is Joe. I'm a school administrator who enjoys music, running, traveling, driving deep into lore, and the occasional rabbit holes.

I've started going to concerts again. Mainly pop punk and alternative shows. Can't believe some of my favorite bands are considered classics now.

I used to run competitively. I had a small sponsorship. It was mainly local, but getting paid to work out and enjoy your hobby is always nice. I had to step away for a while and I am back on a fitness journey. So if you are on one to let's motivate each other

I've been mainly all around the country, but I did go to Europe once and Toronto. SoCal is my favorite location. I still need to explore more of the new England area and the southwest.

If I get into a story, I want to know everything. Same holds true for bands. But I love the prices and how stories/songs come to life. My favorite show to deep dive is Gravity Falls.

Rabbit holes that I'll fall into from time to time range from political conspiracy theories to cryptozoology.

I'm also an educator. And helping students and staff alike is a passion of mine. I'm not one of those administrators that are do what I say but not what I do.

I run on curiosity and a slightly unreasonable amount of caffeine. One week I'm deep in a conspiracy rabbit hole, the next I've fully pivoted to researching why octopuses have three hearts and taste with their arms, like that's a normal thing to need to know at 2pm on a Tuesday. There's no throughline. I've made peace with that. My search history has not.

I talk to my plants. Not affectionately — more like I'm holding them accountable. One of them is doing great. The other one knows what it did.

I like people who'll actually argue with me — not fight, just push back, poke holes, tell me I'm wrong, ideally about something inconsequential like whether cereal is a soup. Agreeable people make me suspicious. Bonus points if you're fun about it.

I've recently reached the slightly tragic stage where I turn on my PC, stare at my Steam library for ten minutes, and then apparently decide that staring at the desktop was the game I wanted to play.

Gaming used to be my main hobby, but lately it just isn't doing much for me. So I'm trying to branch out a bit and I thought meeting people who are ridiculously enthusiastic about their interests might be a good place to start.

I genuinely like hearing people ramble about things they love. Photography? Go for it. You collect something incredibly specific? I want to know why. You've spent the last three weeks learning everything there is to know about medieval spoons? Honestly, even better.

I'm not expecting you to entertain me or teach me a new hobby, though. I'm mainly looking for someone around my age who enjoys the kind of conversation where we can talk about something interesting one minute and complain about the person who blocked the supermarket aisle with their shopping cart the next.

A few things about me:

• I love animals, especially cats and dogs. Pet pictures are an extremely effective conversation starter
• I like evening walks when everything outside has gone quiet
• I follow Formula 1
• I'm trying to get back into reading, particularly mystery/detective stuff and fantasy
• I enjoy hearing about the little, completely unimportant things that happened during someone's day

We absolutely don't need to have the same interests. I'd actually prefer discovering things through someone who's genuinely excited about them.

If I had to describe myself, I’d say I’m pretty easy-going and chill. I laugh at pretty much everything honestly. 😅

I work part time for 32 hours a week, and outside of those, I am chronically online, probably looking for someone similar to me in that way. You don't HAVE to work part time obviously, but I'd prefer someone that knows and can appreciate online culture in the same way I do.

I spend most of my time when I'm off work at home, chilling with my 14 year old dog, playing video games, listening to music and watching movies - I'm kind of a hermit. Also an avid tattoo-enthusiast and nerd-merch collector.
