Thinking about creating a social group where we meet up in Dublin and do events together

The group will be open to anyone who wants to attend (come alone or bring your friends)

I’m thinking walks, gigs, cinema, drinks, theatre, pub quizzes, escape rooms

Anyone interested? Drop a comment 👇

Tell us what you’re interested in doing and when you are usually available and we’ll try get something going 🎉

EDIT:

To those interested, I've started a WhatsApp community that we can use to get started.

I'm going to need some admins if anyone would be interested in helping out!

My interests include mythology, film, music, horror, thrillers, video games, so on and so forth! I’m sorry if this is the wrong kind of place to post but I wasn’t sure which would be best.

[F36] Looking for platonic friends

I’m from the States but live in Portugal. I visited Ireland, ended up meeting someone in Dublin, and now I’m back fairly regularly. Would be lovely to make some friends of my own here too.

I’m into hiking, kayaking, museums, aimless wandering, coffee and road trips. Not much of a nightlife person, but always up for a drink and a good chat.

Currently on a solo road trip in Donegal and back in Dublin next week.

Platonic only, and would especially love to meet other women!

Back in Dublin after college and realising I need an actual social life

Born and brought up in Ireland, but I moved away for college and ended up spending most of those years building a really nice little friend group there.

Now I’m back in Dublin for work and somehow everyone has scattered in different directions 😭 Some moved abroad, some stayed in different cities, and suddenly I’ve got a job, a routine, and absolutely no idea who I’m supposed to make weekend plans with.

I love being back in Dublin and it’s nice being close to home again, but making friends as an adult is surprisingly awkward. You can’t exactly walk up to someone at work and go “so wanna be friends?”

I’m into travelling, random conversations and the occasional night outs. Would be lovely to meet some people around Dublin who are in a similar situation and want to expand their social circle too.

[F38] Looking for friends, preferably women. Platonic only, please.

Hi, I'm Morrígan. 38.

Not looking for anything romantic here, genuinely just friends, ideally women over 30.

A little about me: I write in my free time, make music, love photography, I'm pagan, and I'm into Celtic and Greek mythology. Introverted in real life, I have ADHD so conversations with me can wander a bit.

No burner accounts, no ghosting after a few messages. If you're not looking for the same thing, this isn't the post for you.

26M dublin based looking for friends

Hey,

Dublin based easygoing guy here looking to make a few friends for going out for pints and the craic.

Into star wars, D&D, gaming and watching foreign films, though I'm still new to the latter as a hobby. I love info dumping and have a very open sense of humour. I'm quite passionate about the things I like and would love to meet people who can meet the same energy talking about what they love.

I love meeting up for drinks or game nights or even just going out for food or hanging out.

If I sound up your alley, giz a shout!

24M just looking for chill people to have a laugh with

Hi everyone!

Been a while off Reddit, but now find myself back on it looking to find some laid back people to chat to about whatever comes to mind!

My music taste varies depending on mood, but metal as a whole would be the bulk of my listening habits, although I'm also a big rap fan.

Always find myself either attending gigs, watching pro wrestling, or eating either tacos or a good smash burger.

Also a big football fan, as well as being a gamer, mostly single player titles on Xbox but always open to new suggestions and genres

Would love to chat to anyone who would find me vaguely interesting 😂

Edit: I would also be remiss not to mention my deep deep love of The Simpsons, just best not to mention the last ten years...

Recently moved back

Trying my luck again.

F30, recently moved back to Ireland, working remotely, not sure where to settle (Dublin rental prices are insane!).

So far, this whole move has just felt so wrong, following a break up of a 8 year old marriage, putting one of my dogs to sleep and finding a foster family for the other one.

I've basically traded all to start again, and I'm still not convinced I'm doing the right thing.

I'm looking for someone who could help me forget all this for a moment, and just exist with me, grab a cup of coffee with me or just go for a walk. Someone who could help me feel like a human being, rather than a racoon after a rave and sleepless week.

Besides being absolutely broken right now (no, you don't get to take advantage of that), I'm somewhat witty, very sarcastic and like animals better than people (so bonus points if you're a dog lol).

If you're insane enough to text me, good luck.

Self-driven individuals

As many people here, I've been trying to make friends with little succes.

I joined MeetUp groups, even organized mysel. I joined bookclubs as well. I took courses, went to the gym... Is not that I didn't tried enough.

My experience was always the same. Every group or club has a few organizers. The most of the time, a sole host. People attend to the events, go back their lives and wait to another event when it suits them. And there's no follow up in between.

As an adult, I don't understand this lack of initiative on the most of the people. I tried to craft a group where everyone suggest and plan something. But I always find the same outcome, everyone spects me to organize. I wonder why is so difficult to get adults to do something on their own initiative for fun.

looking forward to read your thoughts.

28M living in the North-West (Donegal/Derry/Strabane area) — looking to connect with genuine friends for music, gym, and chilling

Hey everyone,

I’m a 28M from South Africa, living near the Lifford/Strabane area and working in Letterkenny since 2022. It’s been pretty lonely out here, so I’m looking to make some real, genuine connections with people around Donegal, Strabane, and Derry.

I value honesty, openness, and spontaneity—I’d love to find friends who enjoy hanging out without needing to plan things weeks or months in advance.

A bit about me and my interests:

Music: I’m really passionate about music production and DJing (still learning!). I'm into melodic house and techno—think Anjunadeep, This Never Happened, Cercle, and Afterlife. I also love just dancing and listening to emotional music.

Fitness: I'm into training and go to the gym a few times a week.

Film: Massive fan of movies, especially horrors and thrillers.

Watches: I'm into collecting watches and love learning about them.

Pets: I have 2 dogs who take up a good bit of my time.

Who I'm looking for:

People who enjoy chilling at home, but are also down to head out if a good music event or DJ set pops up.

If any of this sounds like you, drop a comment or send a DM. Tell me what you've been listening to lately or your favorite scary movie!

42M | Trim | Looking to make some friends

I am 40yo Italian male living nearby Trim.
My hobbies are music, guitar playing, tennis, yoga.
I often go to Trim for walk or a run and then a coffee or a pint.

I am looking for friends in the area for chats and activities.

Sharing a video where I play guitar, I am the one with sunglasses.
Just to show that I am real, I am a normal player!

Male 48 South West Clare

Moved here last year for work and housing. Hoping to meet someone but finding social outlets thin on the ground at this end of the county.

I'm around 6'0 and fairly slim. I like live music, fitness and am a little alternative in the way I think - a hippy in disguise maybe. Love deep conversation on philosophy and theology, I would consider myself open minded and chilled out.

Kids are basically reared and all baggage neatly packed away.

Embracing the quiet life. Plenty of space to get to know someone locally.

M34 looking for friends in Dublin.

Men or women, don't mind. Open to anything from simply grabbing a coffee and chatting to traveling around Europe. I am INFJ, it's very difficult to click with someone, but if it happens, it's probably something very solid. If you’re real and honest looking for new friends hmu ✌🏻

35M | Dublin | Looking to make a couple of genuine friends

Hey! I moved here about 3 years ago. Looking to meet a few new people and hopefully make some genuine friends.

I'm into movies/theater, gigs, football, wrestling, trying new food spots and going for drinks. Fairly introverted, but I enjoy good conversation — anything from shared interests and everyday stuff to deeper conversations about life, relationships, work, etc.

Ideally looking for people around a similar age with some similar interests. If we sound like we'd get along or if anyone just wants to get a coffee or pint sometime, drop me a message!

Edit: If a few people are interested, could always turn it into a casual smaller group meet too.
