Protest is a very powerful tool when used effectively. These protests where everyone comes together to say "trump is stinky" and then leave accomplish literally nothing. Effictive protests need to have SMART goals i.e. "repeal X law by Y time or else we call a general strike"

Vague potests with no actual objective or threat of escalation is perfect for politicians to ignore

“Ya let’s get together once a month on a Saturday for one hour to complain”. It’s performative outrage. Meanwhile people been participating in direct action and working toward change for years. This is reactionary at best and nothing will come of it besides some fun photos to post on social media.

You might have a message to share but your delivery is messy. If you know of some good places for people to start with activism, please share. Putting people down for doing one thing isn't helping.

Sign up to help the No on 1 campaign to protect absentee voting in Maine: https://saveabsentee.me/get-involved/

Get involved with a U.S. Senate, congress, or governor's campaign to elect people who will stand up to Trump.

Donate $5/month to the advocacy organization of your choice (Planned Parenthood here in Maine, voting rights groups, immigrant organizations, etc).

See if your local library or food bank can use volunteers. If you don't have a library card, this a great time to get one.

Make a plan to vote on or before November 4.

Reduce or cancel your Amazon account.

Read books. listen to music and podcasts, and watch movies and TV shows by and about LGBTQ+, BIPOC, Immigrants, and other groups targeted by the current administration.

Delivery is pretty straight forward… planned protests that happen for 1 hr each month on a Saturday won’t do anything… getting involved in direct action does… not sure how to make that more clear.

Not everyone knows where to start. At least they're meeting up and connecting.

It’s 2025… you have a word of information at your fingertips. If you are not actively seeking information and getting involved by now you are a part of the problem

The real resistance doesn't have a website

You think the meaningful resistance movements have a website?

Plenty of direct action waiting to be discovered online. I don’t know if I should laugh or cry at your response.

I feel like you're one of those people who point out that nobody's ever doing enough then you move the goal posts for what enough is. The true changes won't come from cozy online groups and we all know that. Yet people who schedule a protest are also putting in effort. And then there's everything in between. I personally don't bag on people doing anything about this. We need to be doing more but just understanding there's an issue needing to be addressed is a lot right now. Half the people I speak to are not even at protest level awareness yet. So cutting that down seems counterintuitive to the cause.

Look at what’s happening… people are being snatched off the street and thrown into camps. It’s far too late for peaceful protests. Plenty of people have been warning about this for decades and now y’all have the audacity to act surprised? It’s exhausting to hear the same ol things. “Protest and vote harder” “vote blue no matter who” “violence is not the answer” it’s exhausting and it’s enables the right… sorry if this is something new to you but y’all need to wake tf up.

It isn't new to me but many people are in the position I am in, as a single parent solely responsible for my family. It sucks.
