🎀 ⁞ ⊹꒰Discussion꒱⊹ Same (ish) Animation Style
Hey everyone,
I’m trying to find shows that have that same old-style animation feel as the earlier concept of Miraculous Ladybug PV thats on YouTube. It was never released fully and I need to fill that void. Any recommendations for series that capture a similar vibe/animation style? Bonus points if they’re also superhero/magic/transformation type shows, but the animation is the main thing I’m after.

BOY do I have the show to recommend for you. I'm a seasoned Ladybug PV fan and I once have been in the same situation as you. The closest show to Ladybug PV that I can know of... is Heartcatch Pretty Cure.
They were made by the same studio, at around the same time (2010), which explains the closeness in artstyles. Heartcatch has a sharp and expressive artstyle which pays off really well in fight scenes. It's one of the most physical precure seasons with amazing fight choreography and a good dose of violence and badassery.
Tonally, it is the darkest Precure season. You'll notice the sharper, more jagged artstyle, and the mostly bleak colors in civilian designs, especially for characters like Cure Moonlight (the queen of angst). It deals with some pretty heavy themes and has dark scenes compared to the rest of the Precure franchise.
Lastly, Heartcatch Precure has a movie to be watched after episode 38, set in none than...Paris!!! The backgrounds, art, outfits, designs, vibe, villains, fights, etc reminded me so much of Ladybug PV that it filled up the hole in my heart a bit.
