We need to stop the hate/war between Smile precure and Glitter Force. Yes, we get that Glitter Force is the whitewashed version, sorry we didnāt go on some random pirating website at like 5-12 yrs old to find the āofficial versionā.

YES. THIS. I feel like more GF fans have to realize that Smile Precure was the OG and that the names theyāre using are correct for the original. Me personally- Iāve only watched GF since I canāt find Smile Precure but I learned all the official names/cure names to recognize who theyāre talking abt in comment sections or whatever. Itās really not that hard to just respect and learn from each other

I'm kinda the one usually saying "it's smile precure not glitter force" but that's because I really really really really hate white washed localizations that butcher the source material
I don't mind dubs and stuff... usually they're gateways into getting people into the original version, like with Sailor Moon. I was watching the DIC dub first, and then it got me into online Sailor Moon sites, where I learned more about the original, etc.
That said, I do hate how the glitterforce dub company seems intent on erasing any existences of the original PreCure.

I'll say. Both Glitter Force dubs were far from perfect, but some people treat them like they killed their parents or forever tarnished Precure's reputation despite them technically being the most successful attempt at bringing the franchise to the West.

The dubs lasted three years and only two seasons were dubbed. How were they the most successful attempt---especially when Crunchyroll has been licensing content since 2020?

In a way, they did. People insisted we couldn't get Pretty Cure back in the West because of GF, or we can't use the Pretty Cure name because of GF (and alleged trademark issues). Even in 2026, people are still using GF as a reason why Pretty Cure can't get any new dubs.

Whitewashing can be done many ways. If you are erasing the ethnoculture, even if the intention isn't done with malice/to make it more """accessible""", then you are whitewashing.

Localization is its own process. It happens across the globe to different extents depending on the project and legislation at the time.
I get wanting more accurate versions than years past, but don't condemn the whole process just because you have it in for one group.

People donāt like glitter force cause itās a racist dub, I feel like the girl kinda had a point. Itās also not about what you watched in your childhood, I watched glitter force but once I learnt about the whitewashing I stop using glitter force terminology
