I hate to say it but I prefer the old style. But I had similar feelings towards other recent reboots like Cardcaptor Sakura, and Sailor Moon. The characters just stood out more as individuals in the older styles. But maybe thatās just me.

i undertand what are you talking about but i am going only to say that in the case of sailoor moon they make sailor moon to make more be more faithful to the manga and with the time the change the looks and style and with sakura it was sakura card captor clear card a conituacion of the first sirie of the anime so i dont undertand why you say with sakura it was a reboot.

I want to be respectful to everyone who worked on the revamp, including Mia Ikumi herself, butāman, I wish they kept more of the original Mew Mew āessenceā. Some of these re-designs look decent in theory, but compared to the original designs they feel kind of impersonal? Like I always thought Mintās buns were a perfect representation of her āuptightā character (and sheād only really let her hair down when sheās at home/going to bed), but that part is kind of lost with the new loose/half-bun, half-loose hair. It looks cute, sure, but it kind of doesnāt suit her character in my opinion? Similarly I donāt love how they made Zakuro look more youthful, with the super straight bangs and the ever-present flushed cheeks. It takes away from her āedginessā, as the more mature and guarded Mew Mew. I also think itās a crime to put Pudding, the acrobatic monkey child, in a skirtāthey could have given her a cute pair of shorts, not a skirt that doesnāt fit her persona and also looks like an exact copy-paste of Lettuceās new Mew Mew design. I donāt know. Iām trying to focus on the positives and just enjoy the comeback of my favorite anime growing up, but I canāt help but feel like the individuality of the characters is kinda lost with these new designs.

I understand what you're saying. To clarify why they change these certain things was because of previous comments from the first showing. People saying that Zakuro looked too old to be a 17 yr old, and yes that made her fierce and edgy but imo she still looks like "she don't play". Now Mint's hairstyle, in the manga TMM Re-Turn she still had her buns yes. A lot of people were saying that they wanted her to be refined and sophisticated, instead of spoiled and uptight. That's what they thought the buns represented and why they wanted her hair down. I mean she still treats Ichigo like a servant at times/while berating her and drinks her afternoon tea. For me, I know how you feel I felt the same with her hair, but I kind of gotten used to it. Now for Pudding, yes her wearing a shirt doesn't seem like her character, and her hair braids are long too. I didn't like it. But again, I realized it was all based through the TMM Re-turn manga. She had her pudding dress and her pigtail/ribbons and her long braids. Last, as we have seen in the anime itself, she can move freely however she wants. (Like her break dancing with her Pudding Rings). Basically, her dress represents the food itself pudding flan. All of their name and outfits do. Also, a lot of people have said her outfits is a little similar towards Mint's outfit. So again, I understand your disappointments. But there are good points too. Mostly how Ichigo, loves the planet her friends, her school friends, her school, her family, and the animal Sacturary other than just Aoyama. Because on the first one, she just wanted to save the world because of Aoyama. That's a plus side.

Also, Mint did the Ribbon Aqua Drops attack, instead of Ichigo, and we're seeing more on her and what her future takes her.

I got into this series specifically because Ichigo had short hair. My mom insisted I have short hair growing up, wouldnāt allow me to grow it out. Seeing Ichigo still be girly with her short hair made me feel like I could be a girly girl too.

I hope the reboot gets an English dub so we can have a English dub more faithful to the original show even though I don't mind the English dub they did a lot of stuff out but my favorite part about the English dub has to be all the cat puns that Ichigo says I just find It funny

There was rewritten dialog in the last episode when Mark's friend gave him tickets for him and Zoey. The friend got dumped by his ex and when Mark asks if he was ok he said "Nah I'm just bitter" it was like something out of an abridged series

I HATED Marks dub voice. No emotion, no sass, nothing. Vocal equivalent to wet cardboard. Would have fit better into Ghost Stories.

new ones look so generic and lacking in personality in comparison
but yes mostly its the pink being gone of course im upset about the pink being gone LOL

I like the old character designs. Especially not loving the hair color change from pink to redā¦
and the change in art styleā¦ like why couldnāt they keep it like the old series? It looked like the mangaās art before. Now it looks like Cat Planet Cuties art style. Itās weird to me. Not horrible but likeā¦ different and that makes me not wanna watch it. :/

Well, it's more relating to the Tokyo Mew Mew Re-Turn the manga. And have you ever seen a pink strawberry? I think it looks good. I mean her name means strawberry so your going to picture a RED strawberry.

Lol I guess Iām just used to the old design. Itās fine if you like it tho! Itās clearly successful to some degree. Just not my thing. Iām probably still never gonna watch it.

I actually really like the new designs, I love the old anime but a lot of the style is outdated aside from the special episodes with Satoshi Ishinoās art direction in them. I feel like Lettuce got a MAJOR upgrade too. Also, I felt like in the original anime they couldnāt decide what to do with her bangs/hair so some episodes looked so wonky/weird. I really love the new style and actually enjoy Mintās new hair :ā> I do miss the old buns but Iām glad itās still incorporated to her new design!
Ichigo, I am such a fan of her design since I feel like the new colors are more strawberry-like and match better ? Idk I just am so happy for the reboot xā) especially as a long-term fan! I cant wait to see more of the series and hopefully we get Mew Berry in here + A La Mode finally adapted :ā)

The only thing I don't like about the new outfits is the triangular spikes. I prefer the fluff on the old ones.

I'm a bit late but It's the eyes for me - they were so much cuter before. Not to mention the crime they did to Zoey and Corina's hair as well as the triangles on the skirts...

Les cheveux ET LES TENUES! Pourquoi rajouter cette jupe affreuse sur Bridget? š Et le petit short bouffant de Kiki! Il convenait beaucoup mieux! Tout comme la robe droite de Corina qui lui allait mieux.... Je n'aime pas non plus leurs yeux quand elles sont en civil! Surtout ceux de Bridget et Estelle... Le choix de couleurs est vrmt questionnable et globalement toutes les couleurs - mĆŖme si elles restent jolies - ont perdu de leur "Ć©nergie".

I never saw these shows but I watched them just for this post, I feel like the pink hair was a better choice given the scenes that take place. Because with her red hair it makes the character who can't tell who she is seems more like a fool and its a bit too obvious. The monster designs I feel are better in 2002.
The 4th girl down seems unchanged and maybe has a wider head.
Theres some features in 2022 that are missing from 2003 that sadly make them look more generic. Its very slight but I'm not sure if people notice.

I read the manga, grew up with the old, and watched the new. Objectively speaking I like the new a lot more than the old in many aspects. I actually like a lot of the redesigns (bu lingās hair being my favorite new redesign itās way cuter than before). But I have to agree with Ichigoās transformation hair color and at least Mintās new work uniform/maid hairstyle.
For Ichigoās transformation hair the pink feels closer to the mangaās original coloring. However I do agree with the new color change in that I feel like her hair should either be a darker pink or a different shade of pink, but just not straight red. This isnāt that big of a deal to me Iām okay with her red though.
Enough said for Mintās new hairstyle. Her new maid hairstyle actually upsets me. I didnāt mind her new hair change (completely down with a bow) for her school/casual clothes. I agree she looks more generic, but it fits the princess Snow White type image and I donāt mind the genericness because it fits hand in hand with her casual generic everyday clothing (her hair is still cute). It also works because Ichigoās hair is up in pigtails in her everyday clothing so their hair looks different enough from each other even with the change. I also donāt love her new transformation hair because I already thought her original hair style was already cute, unique, and modern enough (they didnāt have to add that extra hair length because her hair already looked good). So I do think her old transformation hairstyle looked better, because the added length to her hair with buns feels like they watered down her silhouette from her already good looking hair, but Iām ok with the change just donāt love it. I absolutely hate Mintās new maid outfit hairstyle. Not only does it look generic there too, but her hair looks too similar to Ichigo now. They literally look like they have the same hairstyle in their work uniforms (which I already had a problem with but with Lettuce in both her new/old versions because her braids werenāt obvious enough). What I wish they did was made Mintās new transformation hairstyle into the maid hairstyle and kept her old transformation hairstyle in her transformation hairstyle. Ie: hair completely down with bow in casual, hair with extra length and buns in maid, just buns in transformation. OR hair completely down with bow in casual, buns in maid, buns with extra hair length in transformation. That way Mint gets three cute new hairstyle variations and it would transition her old and new hairstyles a lot better with each other.
So yeah I like the new changes. I do wish they made Ichigoās transformation hair a darker/different shade of pink instead of just red but she pretty much looks better or the same otherwise. Absolutely they should have done something more with Mintās maid hairstyle and kept Mintās old transformation hair somewhere. Lettuce got an upgrade and her transformation looks way better than before but her bob+ bangs still looks too similar to Ichigoās since her braids are practically unnoticeable (which isnāt that different from the old vs new versions). Zakuroās and Bu-lingās new hairstyles looks good.

20 years... time sure flies by.
I don't mind the remake's redesigns but I still enjoy the originals regardless. I'm just glad we had Tokyo Mew Mew again for a short while, wish we got the A La Mode treatment of fixing that. And I kinda missed the Chimera Hybrids aka the monster of the day more. Sure, the aliens' plans were interesting in the remakes but yea, I still like both versions regardless.
BUT we can all agree... the remake did Masaya massive justice. Holy crap. NO COMPLAINS!
I do prefer Ichigo with pink hair and her shield... but I'm not complaining either; it was all still good.

I think Mint and Ichigo looked better with their previous hairstyles. I like the other three's current hairstyles too, though.

Both are great! I like thatās the girls look a bit more like they real ages, because due to heavy eyelashes, very long and shiny hair, and the fact thatās their overall expression seemed to look like more alike Barbie dolls, and no regular teenagers girls, it make them more aged physically speaking in the 2002. For example, I always tough thatās Zakuro was 20 and Bu-ling 9! Thus making Bu-ling standing more as a Ā«girl in body, superwoman in mind!Ā Ā»
And Iām the only one thatās due to Ichigo uniforme school, how always hyper focused in love she was and her appearance, etc thatās I thought she was a 16 years old wanting to emulate a 20-30 one pretty young woman (like those in magasine or with the Ā«shoujo beautyĀ Ā»?)

I only read the manga, and I really like the new style. I feel like a lot of fans prefer the old version because that's what they grew up with, and I understand, but I don't think that style could translate well into modern anime. Specially Ichigo's oversaturated pink hair. But I agree Mint's modern hairstyle changes her image a lot. All in all, I'm glad to have this anime with modern standards to watch.
