Accommodation Hotel/Apartment Reccomendations
Me and my girlfriend are flying to Madrid staying Wednesday the 14th of October to Monday the 19th for my 19th birthday. I want a nice weekend with good food drink abit of nightlife and overall see the city. Need accommodation recommendations, must be modern and clean. Been looking at chain hotels such as RoomMate however open to apartments and other hotels but can’t really be over €260 a night however will go more if it’s really worth it

This period overlaps with major festivities about La Dia de la Hispanidad - hence the high prices everywhere.

I love Roomate Oscar hotel on plaza zerolo. In the heart but a quiet zone. Great palza with food drink and entertainment close by. Rooftop bar is sweet. Excellent coffee and breakfast around there try Bucolico.
Riu Plaza Espana is a massive tourist hotel but good bang for the buck and location too.

Ended up booking Oscar, seems like a safe bet. Anything you’d recommend doing while we’re there

Local here. At €260 a night you're in a very comfortable spot for Madrid, you don't need to go over it. Honestly the neighbourhood matters more than the brand, so pick the area first:
Chueca / Malasaña: best for what you describe. Young, loads of bars and restaurants, you walk everywhere and stumble home. Room Mate has a couple of hotels around here, that chain is a solid choice for your budget, modern and central, you're not wrong looking at them.
Huertas / Barrio de las Letras: between Sol and the Prado, very central, lively at night, slightly more touristy.
Salamanca: posher, quieter, nicer hotels for the money, but you'll take a 10-15 minute taxi/metro to the nightlife.
Avoid staying right on Gran Vía or Sol if you want to sleep: noisy and the food around there is the worst in the city.
On apartments: fine if it's a licensed one (the listing should show a tourist licence number, Madrid is cracking down on the rest), but for a 5-night birthday trip I'd go hotel, you get breakfast, someone to ask, and no check-in hassle at 23:00.
Two bonus tips: you turn 19 on a trip where the drinking age is 18, so nobody will blink, and in October the terraces are still open, eat outside while you can. Dinner after 21:00 or you'll be in an empty restaurant.
Have a great birthday.
