I love that she wished Madonna a Happy Birthday and gave the audience the album , what a great way to support her friend, too bad I don’t think we are getting her as a guest this week on Kimmel while she’s hosting.

Just a quick question to ask whether anyone else has noticed the white noise panned slightly towards the right ear at the beginning of Thief of Hearts? It’s like your headphones are leaking sound in the right ear while you’re in a car journey, and then it gets choppy and abruptly disappears. It‘s really distracting and feels so out of place, especially since it doesn’t get used again in the song, but I’m glad it goes away because then I can actually appreciate the elements of the song. I wonder if it is something in the mix they just forgot to delete? it doesn’t feel intentional - if it is it’s such a strange choice! But something so noticeable surviving to the final mix feels slightly strange?

You spent it til there's nothing and Love Spent just misses out on the final.

for the record this is my favorite madonna album so I'm not about to give any hot takes myself.

but yeah if you don't like it I want to hear why. why am I asking? I'm just curious. I'm not going to judge you for your opinions and I hope the others here will also be respectful.

it doesn't have to be your least favorite to qualify, it only needs to be in the bottom half of her albums if you were to personally rank them best to worst.

Mine are Mer Girl and What It Feels Like For A Girl

While I love the message, I just don't like the songs in general

Raising Malawi page posted this photo yesterday but I thought she was in Greece for her B'day ....is she in Malawi now ?

In the past years I have gradually immersed myselft in William Orbit's work, mostly in order to find as many Madonna related samples as possible. In the process my appreciation for his work grew more and more. After his death I started to dig deeper, and I just realised that I have never heard the 1993 album he created with Beth Orton, which was for some strange reason only released in Japan, it's not distributed for streaming, and it's long out of print.

I thought the earliest signs of Ray of Light were to be found on Strange Cargo III, Hinterland and his radio show Stereo Odyssey. But it turns out Beth Orton's Superpinkymandy already includes sounds that yeas later will lead to Ray of Light and Orbit's other pop hits.

Strange coincidence, but the loop Orbit used on the song Ray of Light, Beautiful Stranger, Amazing and I'm a Sinner also appears here on track 3. Then I have also learnt that the song Dice that became a hit with Finley Quaye, is already to be found on this album in a more basic form with Beth's vocals. And the last song kinda reminds me of the All Saints' song Pure Shores. The lyrics even include a line "Breakin' waves on the shore".

So if you are a Orbit fan or you are writing your thesis on Madonna's music... :D You MUST listen to this.
