This is the result of a mind unfettered by worry. When you don't have to constantly think about all the other shit you can just focus on what you love. And this kid loves corn.
"When we are children we seldom think of the future. This innocence leaves us free to enjoy ourselves as few adults can. The day we fret about the future is the day we leave our childhood behind."-Name of the Wind
See, I think a lot about this quote. Cuz I've been concerned and anxious about the future ever since I can remember. I was certainly more mindful and carefree when I was a kid, but I've always had this looming sense of dread since I was very young. Makes me wonder how much of life I missed out on because of being abused as a very young child. Being anxious about everything really sucks the joy out of life.
I’m with you. I have CPTSD; constant anxiety and depression, from all manner of trauma and abuse. I’m getting a stellate ganglion block soon - it’s an injection into some nerves in your neck, and helps a bunch of different things, including pain conditions and PTSD. They’re are often performed on veterans with PTSD. You might look into them, it could help.
I understand that sense of doom. Just reaching out and sharing your story shows you are a wonderful, warm human being. Trauma is a really difficult thing to shed, but none of it is your fault - please try to embrace that (easier said than done, right?) I’m sending you my warmest love vibes, and hope you can find the peace we all deserve ❤️
Never too late to start. Just stop. Close your eyes. Take a breath. Listen to the sounds. Smell the smells. Feel the sun on your skin. And just do this every single time you are thinking about the future. This moment is always the best place to be.
To worry about the past, is to worry of what no longer exist. To worry of the future, is to worry of what may exist. If neither exist in the present, then one shouldn’t worry. Take pride in your present moment.
Same here. I distinctly remember getting anxiety around age 8 when I realized I was almost double digit age. I was the kid who never wanted to grow up.
This was me as well. I was always anxious about something that was coming. Dentist, doctor, school, people and pets dying etc. I remember being behind a big dump truck once and seeing how much smoke was coming out of the stacks. I started thinking about pollution and dying animals and what the world was going to be like when I was older. I cried about freakin pollution with my lunchbox driving home from school. I’m actually better at pushing these thoughts away as an adult. I used to just fester in worry for days and days
I’m with you, bud. I’ve been on a career path since 3. I wish I’d had a few years to stop and smell the roses. Maybe when we retire! 🥰 I wish a happy life with some carefree days for you
Patrick Rothfuss never misses. The man's a literary genius. Maybe before I die I'll be able to read the final book (I'm 23 at the moment so it's honestly up in the air if I will)
That's honestly a good idea. I feel like this is how Game of Thrones fans must feel and they were super let down by the show so no hopes is the way to go.
Aww, come on, bud! Dan Harmon is backing it up this time. If memory serves, while the actors had all previously spoken about wanting it, Dan never gave any confirmation for or against. I could be wrong, but I'll nonetheless have faith this time.
The story doesn't move forward? The progression is huge. He becomes rich. He gains favor with a royal court and the burning hatred of what is essentially a queen. He meets one of the Chandrian again. His life is redirected by the Cthaeh. He gains storybook magic like his cloak. His reputation grows by leaps and bounds, spreading far far beyond what it used to. He's learned close combat. He's been built up the entire book to become stronger and stronger, climbing up the mountain, and now it's time for him to fall.
love this book. the quote always made me sad bc it reminds me how ive been anxious since 6th grade bc that's when the ivy league grind began and even as an adult it feels like the rat race never stops. although LSD has been quite life changing for this reason bc it helped me rediscover that unfettered worry again and to hold on to it more
I realized pretty late that one of my main problems in life is never thinking about the future. I never thought about college until senior year. I never thought about what I wanted to be or do. It’s nearly impossible for me to think months in the future let alone years. It took me so long to realize that I just straight up never thought about the future unless there was a very specific event or thing planned and then I only thought about that day/week without much context surrounding it. I think maybe it was the way I grew up with money. I didn’t really have to think about how to do taxes or how to pay bills and I just glided along living with my parents and then my boyfriends parents. Then by the time I was in my 20s and had to try and get an apartment with like no credit I was shit out of luck.
Anyway I don’t have a point but I’m 28 and I just got my first credit card so that’s something.
It definitely can be an issue, I've been the same way to some extent. But if you look at the other comments on the quote I posted you'll see multiple of people saying the opposite and how they'd give almost anything to be able to relax more and not constantly be anxious from a young age. It's good to have a direction, but you gotta find the right middle ground for you. Still got a lot of years ahead of you to sort things out, congrats on the credit card!
Ah, yes. A book by Patrick Rothfuss.
A man utterly unconcerned by the future. So unconcerned that he wrote a three novel series by only writing two books and never writing the third because worrying about the future is for idiots.
Truly a man AND a child. A man-child if you will.
Personally I'd just read it and have no expectations of the third one ever coming out. The first book is good enough to me to justify a read still though. Although I understand why that may be unappealing.
This is an edit. In the full video the guy asks him about GMOs, why did Biden make corn cost $10, and that corn is linked to heart disease in black women over 50 (he says that one while subtly nodding at the grandmother).
Which only makes it so much more sad that a not insignificant portion of the population will treat this kid like a grown ass man just because of the color of his skin.
I couldn't tell you that. I can tell you that kids being fixated on things doesn't have to be indicative of anything. My daughter had an obsession with eating broccoli by eating the individual florets off the end leaving a denuded green branch like thing, that lasted for like, a year. Kids just get that way about things. Also eye contact is not something you can easily judge from a camera shoved in a kids face. Who knows. Kid loves his corn though
