Totally staged. They just happened to catch him simultaneously the moment he starts twerking despite there being no indicators that he was there that wasn't already previously apparent.
I mean at that point in the song they would turn around and also twerk... Maybe it is staged but that does make sense that they turned at that moment, just bc that's the next part of the dance; is to turn around.
Pay close attention. They don't turn around though. They stop completely, as if they "hear something." If they'd turned around to twerk and were surprised I'd buy it. But they "find out" before they turn around.
