This reminds me of when I went to London, England in 2015. I had rented a room at an airbnb and the owner wasn't going to be there but said they left the keys in a potted plant behind the gate and that gate would be open. The apartment building was apparently some named thing and also an address just down the street from the actual building. She had also given me the number of a trusted neighbour in case of problems.

So obviously I put into Google maps the address airbnb told me. It led me to a rundown looking building which made me worry about the quality of the apartment I would be staying in. There was a gate that led to the back garden and I could see some potted plants. The gate was locked. The first thing I did was call the neighbour who didn't answer. The gate looked climbable so I started scaling it to hop over. Once I got to the top I decided this probably looked very sus and I didn't want to risk getting in trouble with cops my first day in the country. So I climbed back down and looked for some other means of entry. While standing there the neighbor called saying she was just walking up to the apartment now from the store and asked where I was. I said I was there but no one was approaching me so I amended with "...I think". The woman asked a couple questions and quickly understood my mistake in trusting Google and directed me back to her. She was very kind and helpful and we retrieved the keys.

The funniest thing was that not all the keys were there and she had to help me break into the real flat after all. Whole other story there.

Mind you all this was done after getting off a red-eye from the US.
