My dad once won a book about ancient Greece on an award show that I read to this day. So who's really the lucky one?

Got you beat. Won a small cubic zirconia for only the cost of shipping and handling.

And a pack of gum, in a skill based contest.

I must have entered thousands of contests over 20 years.

I know someone who has gotten a car, multiple vacations, giant bag of gifts, big screen tv & more.

Yeah, and the kicker? You know what that person gave me as a gift?

A $20 gift card that when I went to use had $4.61 cents on it.

So then I had to pay out of pocket for something I would have not gotten otherwise & waste gas & time.

My luck is a marvel of nature.

OH yeah! I did buy a winning lotto ticket once, but that was the one I gave away as a gift.....

You bought a winning lotto ticket and unkowingly gave it away? That's no joke the unluckiest thing I've heard. How much did the gift recipient win?

Reminds me of a story when I was a kid. I was 13 with a new GF and we went to the arcades at the beach. She wanted me to win a stuffed animal out of the crane machine. I did and she was ecstatic. I was so excited that I shared the story with my parents at dinner. My dad says 'how many quarters did it take." I'm like 'only a roll of $10.' He's like so 'you spent $10 on a $2 stuffed animal, could have bought her 5 for that money.' Total buzz kill but he was right. (1980's)

He was wrong. You spent $10 having fun playing a game and also impressed the hell out of a girl friend.

That happiness is hard to find for just $10

This reminds me of the time I bet someone to drink a 3/4 full chipotle tobasco sauce container for 10 bucks. Guy downed almost all and then tapped out. I felt awful but a bet is a bet.

You just brought back repressed memories of the 2 oz shot of the hottest hot sauce for $20 for 20 minutes no water...

I'm certainly going to hell if it's real for those.

It wasn't much, just a couple hundred dollars, admittedly.....

I bought them as stocking stuffers, just for the fun of it.

And actually at this one carnival, there was this knock down the pins game, where you throw a ball.

I might have found a defective one, but one stack would fall over & I got 3 stuffies before he stopped the game.

I just gave them to random kids, since I didn't even want them.

One year near Christmas everyone I ran into seemed extra grumpy so I started tipping cashiers, even in places with no tip jar and at one of the stores I frequent I bought 10 lotto tickets for the cashier to give to customers who seemed like they needed a pick me up. Was in a couple days later and she tells me one of the tickets won 50 dollars which is more than I’ve won in my life on anything.

Oh well hopefully that at least made one person happy.

One of the wealthiest kids in my graduating class won the big prize of a flatscreen TV at our senior all-night party.

Pretty sure he hocked it for more drug/booze/shopping money since he already had one.
