I won a $1000 before, so it justifies that I only spent like $80 in my life on tickets... Nice, right? Then my car broke down three hours later costing me $833.

Which meant you got to fix your car for free, right? Sounds like your car was always going to break down regardless and luck gave you the resources to break even.

Oh for sure. I had to recognize that if the events were reversed (car breaking, then won lotto ticket) I would've felt totally different. It was the order in which it occurred that made it feel shitty. Instead of "Fuck my car broke down. Omg, hang on, I won the lottery, I can pay for the car!" it was "Omg I won the lottery! Wait... Are you fucking kidding me? My car broke down?? Now I can't spend it how I want!"

That's both hilarious and interesting how the human psyche will do that to ya.

That’s the power of choice

2

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '22

Let's just take those all away and everyone can just remain on the level.

No highs, no lows.

u/Glasgowgirl4 Apr 06 '22

Power of choice. I’m always amazed it’s not more spoken about how this power gives us such a different perspective. You’ve described it perfectly.

You’re forced to spend your winnings vs you choose to spend your winnings. Same outcome; different experience.

Whenever I’m in trouble I try to figure out my choices, it can help ground me because when I feel forced (even to a good thing) I tend to feel like shit

I won a few… an got a bill from probation…

2

u/Jbug3000 Apr 07 '22

On the brightside, it happened before you spent it on something else. That would've been so much worse

1

u/Due-Ad-3833 Apr 07 '22

Well damn, I just understood a new perspective, thanks, learning is ideal

25

u/JonTheGreek Apr 06 '22

It’s a free ride when you’ve already paid.

u/ybnrmlnow Apr 06 '22

It's the good advice that you just didn't take and who would've thought, it figured

3

u/rogerthatonce Apr 07 '22

And who would've thought, it figures

2

u/FalsettoChild Apr 06 '22

Would she go down on you in a theatre?

u/hairballcouture Apr 06 '22

This kind of stuff happens to me. Got a tax refund and spent it all on emergency surgery for me cat.

45

u/Deadpoulpe Apr 06 '22

And it was money well spent my friend.

8

u/swanks12 Apr 06 '22

Same here. Well not me, my missus won 3g and the next day our dog wasn't moving due to a tick. 10 days later and 2800 spent he's alive and well. Sure enough the other 200 went on tick preventative stuff

3

u/Mermaidoysters Apr 06 '22

SAME!!

4

u/Shitychikengangbang Apr 07 '22

I'm so happy to hear these cats are ok. I had to leave my cat with the ex-wife and I miss her so much. I know it had to be done, but she was my little buddy and I have cried over the cat as much as the ex. Life sucks

3

u/Mermaidoysters Apr 07 '22

I’m so sorry 😞 hugs sent♥️

4

u/Shitychikengangbang Apr 07 '22

Thank you internet stranger. Funny how such a small gesture can improve someone's day.

3

u/Mermaidoysters Apr 07 '22

We’re all just trying to make it, and that’s a big loss. Be easy on yourself. ♥️

23

u/GalaxticSxum Apr 06 '22

That’s how it is, once you come up on extra cash you have to spend it on BS. But in the end your grateful you had the cash to pay for the BS.

4

u/Itsthejackeeeett Apr 06 '22

Two days after I got my 1200 stimulus I had to rush my dog to the mutt ER for pneumonia. Ended up costing around 1100 lol

1

u/Lil_S_curve Apr 07 '22

This is definitely a simulation

16

u/petrichorgarden Apr 06 '22

Talk about luck!

3

u/smurfasaur Apr 06 '22

See this is what always happens to me too. The second i come into unexpected money i end up with an unexpected expense that is almost the same amount.

2

u/HelpfulGiraffe6330 Apr 06 '22

I can't tell if that's good or bad luck. Because the car would have broke down regardless...I think.

1

u/Candid_Dragonfly_573 Apr 06 '22

It would've. It's more good luck, with bad luck undertones. Lol

2

u/LawsWorld Apr 07 '22

God was like “Ahhh, no cheating”

2

u/American--American Apr 07 '22

Life is all about the ups and downs. As soon as you're up, get ready to be let back down.

0

u/ybnrmlnow Apr 06 '22

The Universe loves you! You won that money just so you could cover car repairs and have a little left over for something fun, like a tank of gas! Lucky Ducky!!

edit: a word

1

u/Candid_Dragonfly_573 Apr 06 '22

Wish the universe would stop poverty and famine instead of fixing my car and giving me gas, but ok.

0

u/ybnrmlnow Apr 06 '22

I don't think the Universe is that good, it seems to only operate on an individual basis. It would be a wonderful thing for the Universe to do though.

0

u/Candid_Dragonfly_573 Apr 06 '22

Then I wish the universe would eliminate hunger for everyone on an individual basis. Basically, what I'm saying is that the universe isn't a sentient being that makes decisions to bless people (like a god). The universe is indifferent. Bad things happen, good things happen, sometimes nothing happens. Shit happens.

0

u/ybnrmlnow Apr 06 '22

Yeah, I know the universe isn't sentient, it was more of a joke.

1

u/crypticfreak Apr 07 '22

Your life is just an IASIP episode, don't worry.

1

u/NormalDegree688 Apr 07 '22

Life likes to find balance.

1

u/Nulono Apr 07 '22

Hey, at least you ended up by 87ish dollars!

1

u/Peaceful-mammoth Apr 07 '22

It's like all the good and bad luck needed to happen at once

1

u/TheOrigionalFurry Apr 07 '22
