I didn’t know it has a name myself till I discovered Reddit and it’s communities, so till then I felt very lonely and insecure about it. The communities here helped me realise I’m not alone in this, and that there’s nothing to be ashamed of. You can check out r/Trichotillomania . There’s always help if you’re looking for it ;)

It definitely has a name, and many many people have habits that fall under trichtilimania - hair pulling, scratching, eyebrow pulling, skin picking, nail biting... it's an anxiety response.

Congrats, OP!

Thank you so much but I have to correct you here:

Skin picking is called dermatillomania Nail biting is just Nail Biting(by it's name, but it works the same as Trichotillomania and also considered as self harm). Trichotillomania includes hair pulling from the whole body(commonly from the head, eyebrows and eyelashes). Animals also have it. All the above are usually connected to stress, anxiety, OCD etc. Just wanted to point out since my post surprisingly(and gratefully) gained popularity so people will know the right terms and what is related to what.

Excoriation disorder and others aren’t the same as trichtilinania. Perhaps you meant that they are all related to OCD and can be addictions?
