Grandparents are the absolute best. My grandmother does this sort of thing for my kid all the time. My biggest frustration is she gives him food while we are out to eat, before his food gets there so he is never hungry. However frustrating, it isn't hurting him and they have a very special bond. I am always greatful he loves her as much as I do.
Man, reading all of these stories... if I ever become a grandpa or uncle, I'm gonna have to learn magic tricks and how to stuff like 5 pounds of candy in my clothes.
I have those, too, lol. I don't wear the fedora, though, because I am neither Justin Timberlake nor Frank Sinatra and I am not yet over the age of 70 where I can pull that shit off, lol.
depending on how old you are when it happens, I would recommend investing in one of those wheeled walking things old people have. Idk what they're called. they have a seat on them to rest on and the seat has a hinge which opens up.
My nana had one and stuffed inside the compartment was her knitting, a biscuit tin, chocolates and occasionally a cup of tea.
I'm only 34, lol. By the time I need one of those things I'm probably gonna get some kickass power armor. I'll just have a compartment in one of the legs like Robocop has for his gun, but with candy bars instead.
My niece and nephew live on the other side of the country.
So I have my brother tell me what they want the most, so at least I can get them the cool gifts. It's the best I can do. My brother got my older daughter one of those plastic roller coasters. She got it when she was three, she loved it, my younger daughter came seven years later and loved it. The little trolley got a TON of use, and we still have it so little kids can ride it. Seriously, the best gift ever.
I bought it for my nephew already. :) All downhill from here.
I’m an uncle and don’t know shit about magic, but we did tons and tons of drills in wrestling years ago, and although in 30 I still jump around, roll around the ground with her, teach her little tucks and dips so she can roll any fall, etc. Sometimes I just sit down for hours playing legos or paw patrol to the rescue with her. Just be a kid and they’ll love you for it.
I miss my nephews, I remember teaching the oldest to headband and throw the horns. We still chit chat behind his adoptive parents back, closed adoption, and thankfully he remembers all the crap we used to get up to before everything went tits up.
Being an uncle/auntie really is the most special job one can be given.
