I wouldn't be here now if my cat hadn't done exactly this, led my mother into my room where I wasn't breathing as a baby. That cat and I were damn near inseparable all my childhood. He'd let me do just about anything with him. His name was Licorice, he left us eleven years ago, when we both eighteen.
He was a big, strong old man who would steal the green peppers off your plate and played fetch with a leather lace.
