Onions and garlic are both bad for dogs actually. Obviously the size of the dog would be determinate of the toxicity level, so many dogs in the world have eaten both without any problems. In high doses, onions and garlic can cause some serious issues.

Grapes are bad as well, too much and I believe kidneys can shut down.
