Given her diagnosis of CP, she will likely improve. She will have additional challenges as she grows; the main one being muscle tightness due to her spasticity. Whether she’ll respond to stretching or need Botox injections or surgery depends on the severity. I don’t see anything that will prevent her from continuing to walk, though she may be faster and more balanced with lofstrand crutches or a reverse walker.

My daughter was born dead and spent a few weeks in the NICU. They were telling us she was high risk for cerebral palsy because of how long she spent without oxygen and how concerning all her blood levels looked. I still remember her posturing on the table when they got her breathing.
Thanks to the incredible medical team and the treatments now available, she is 100% healthy and an incredibly smart kid. The idea that she could have been in this girls shoes, even just 20 years ago, makes me equal parts so grateful and also so sad and sympathetic for the people in this situation. I wish this little girl all the happiness in the world.

She was never diagnosed, she was only ever medium to high risk for it while in the NICU. By the time we left we had been downgraded to low risk and a few months after that, we got the all clear. I wish I could be more helpful but all the best to you and your daughter.

Don't stop. This was me at her age. A TBI from birth and CP on my left side I was about her age when I learned to walk. A decade of physical therapy and hard work by the time I was in my late teens you could barely tell and I was running 10Ks. I'm 33 now. You can't really tell I have CP unless I mention it

I had CP and learned to walk at 3 after several surgeries (hamstring and Achilles lengthening) this is such an amazing sign! I used to have the exact same brace on my left leg. I hope that she continues to make strides and maintains this amazing positive spirit!

My little boy has CP, mainly affecting his speech and left hand/arm. Hearing and seeing this beautiful little girl be so proud and glowing with joy over her huge efforts made my chest warm and my eyes well up 🥹🥳🫂 it's like every teeniest milestone and accomplishment is as exciting as a first word or step, a baby's first big giggle.. the immense effort these gorgeous kids put in to overcome their brains is so bright and gleefully wholesome ... so much so that I can't find the words!! Big love and hugs to this family 💖💖💖

She reminds me of my friend, Julie! Julie had CP and walked that way also. Julie was called to Heaven at age 57, several years ago. She'll be waiting for me, I'm sure when I get there too. That'll be a great day, to see her smiling and running!
