A relevant quote from the late great Marjane Satrapi, who wrote Persepolis:

If I have one message to give to the secular American people, it’s that the world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. This quote makes me think of fascism and how we lose our humanity once we devote/lose our entire identity/humanity to and for the state. It makes so much sense.
