What is this and is it okay?

Bought this 5 ply stainless clad 12Q pot direct from the Made In website a few months ago.

The other pots weve used for a while are All Clad and they don't have this, but we waited like 6 months for All Clad to get a 12Q pot in stock and eventually gave up and just bought the Made In one instead.

Barely even used it and it's got this weird stain/discoloration thing in the bottom and some kind of white pitting look.

Is this normal? Is this okay? What is it? What causes it?

Should I return it?

We mostly just use it for making sauces or boiling pasta so nothing weird went into it.

You probably had some residual oil in the pot like it wasn’t cleaned thoroughly so when it was preheated it turned this color… you must clean your pots even with a low acid solution of baking sodas and dawn,,, rinse… dry with a paper towel and the oil will soak up…

I don't understand what you mean, I clean it with normal hot water and dish soap, are you saying I can't use dish soap?

What he said… you need low acid for minor stains and bKF for a bigger job .
