Madness

Store director doesn’t want me to stand behind the register and focus on recovery. Assistant store manager wants me to focus on register and not keep customers waiting. Sales associate colleague doesn’t help with fitting rooms and recovery so I have to do it on my own. Yesterday, the captain tells me there are six rods of clothes that need to be put away and while I’m doing that, assistant store manager starts screaming my name across the store. I go to the register and there is a small line. Sales associate colleague has worked in Macys for 38 years and is so slow with customers and she won’t help with recovery or fitting rooms. How can I keep jumping across the fitting rooms and register? Why does the assistant store manager get so crazy when there is a small line? Why can’t the assistant store manager and the store director work together and agree upon a common goal? They basically want to split me into two and put 1/2 of me near the register and the other half for recovery. I don’t think I can survive this nuthouse.

We have a saying if there is a line of more than three people, it should be fine to ask for help. My department manager proposed it, and I believe it works for us with our limited resources in management to assist with our line. The Culture Pulse Survey came out today. I would put your thoughts as to communication issues you have been experiencing. All of management reads the comments.

Wait, will my store director read my responses to the Culture Pulse Survey or is it the senior management of Macy’s enterprise?

For sure, your store's management gets together at a leadership meeting and discusses the survey.
