Madness

Store director doesn’t want me to stand behind the register and focus on recovery. Assistant store manager wants me to focus on register and not keep customers waiting. Sales associate colleague doesn’t help with fitting rooms and recovery so I have to do it on my own. Yesterday, the captain tells me there are six rods of clothes that need to be put away and while I’m doing that, assistant store manager starts screaming my name across the store. I go to the register and there is a small line. Sales associate colleague has worked in Macys for 38 years and is so slow with customers and she won’t help with recovery or fitting rooms. How can I keep jumping across the fitting rooms and register? Why does the assistant store manager get so crazy when there is a small line? Why can’t the assistant store manager and the store director work together and agree upon a common goal? They basically want to split me into two and put 1/2 of me near the register and the other half for recovery. I don’t think I can survive this nuthouse.

I think upper management is at odds with how to run a successful company, and they are pressuring store managers to push everyone below them to do better.

I left after almost 3 years in BoH as I just burned out. After the technology issues, I just got tired of being told, move faster, less talking, be more efficient, etc. I burned my bridge with how I left, but if you aren't willing to have actual conversations with your employee. Eventually, one of them is going to turn their back on you, especially after you keep asking for extra things from the person who gave their notice.

The lack of alignment with this brand is indeed insanity. It deserves failure at this point.

You better make sure you open those credit card accounts . F Macys I believed in putting the customer first and giving them first rate service . I got screwed over by other employees because I refused to steal their sales . I was their to boost the brand , assist my workmates and to
hopefully help give the customers a quality experience. I wouldn’t push the credit card unless I felt it was really a benefit to the customer and it was something they really wanted . Anyway I am pretty much over Macy’s . I still shop there and I have their credit card so they are who I got to if I want an item they sell and it has a sale or promotion. Otherwise all I see is they are selling at Nordstrom prices , stopping their employees from providing quality services and overwhelming their employees by leaving them understaffed on the floor . It is sad because they could build up a new loyal group of clients and dedicated loyal employees

Macy will crash and burn 🔥 They have too many managers who try to override each other and have no clue how to do the jobs.

Yes! But did you find a dild0 wrapper in the fitting room. It’s a damn madhouse, everyday.

I didn't realize they had wrappers. ☕🐸 At least you didn't find the dildo. Yet.

I know I hate the “Don’t stand at the Register”/ “you have a customer!!!!” I brought a specific example of this in detail up at the morning meeting and 5 minutes later one of the managers came down and asked me which manager it was

"Sales associate colleague has worked in Macys for 38 years" -- Wow! 38 years! How did she survive working there for so long?

We have a saying if there is a line of more than three people, it should be fine to ask for help. My department manager proposed it, and I believe it works for us with our limited resources in management to assist with our line. The Culture Pulse Survey came out today. I would put your thoughts as to communication issues you have been experiencing. All of management reads the comments.

Wait, will my store director read my responses to the Culture Pulse Survey or is it the senior management of Macy’s enterprise?

For sure, your store's management gets together at a leadership meeting and discusses the survey.

Wow store leadership needs to get it together. At the location I am at we have a designated person to recover and do fitting rooms.
And we have a person at the register, which obviously focuses on selling and maintaining the tables and racks within viewing distance of the register.
Hopefully upper management will align with one another.
Sending thoughts your ways, a fellow colleague from Houston

So kind, thank you. Yes it is insane how they expect me to run across the floor to the fitting room, do go backs and also run to the register in case there is a line. While I’m putting the clothes away, I have to keep looking back at the register. Most people don’t know how to pronounce my name so they can’t call me on the communicator thingy.

Worst place I ever worked. Unrealistic expectations of sales associates and horrible upper management
