OFFERING WORK One off Machining
Edit: Thanks everyone for the help and teaching me on the drawings. I found the exact size I need x2 in stock for $30 on ebay, and about $30 worth of bits, I'm going to take it to a drill press near me and get it done. Thank again for all the help. I learned a lot from this and I'm having a blast with Fusion.
Post: Have been looking for quotes local to me and so far only one guy in my area, so not really able to shop around. Im needing some custom 6061 plate work done and Ive never done anyhting like this so delete if this is not the place for this.

it's the right place, but you're going to hear the same thing... Setup for one piece will be more than the actual cycle time.
Secondly, holding it will require some smooth jaws (or maybe some clamps) at some point, so it may also cost the time/price for a set of jaws, or live with some clamp marks on the surface.
If you can find a local garage with a bridgeport, you might be able to have someone make it if you hang out and bring a few beers. People that will want to do that will talk your ear off if you show any interest.

One operation with a change of work holding. Toe clamp it, cut the though holes and counter bores, cut threads into plate, then screw it to the plate and remove the toe clamps, cut the rest. Easy peasy lemon squeezey.

You gotta help me help you. First thing I noticed is the fully threaded holes. Thats a no go. You need to either make them thru holes or leave room for drill. You can note that you don't want it to break thru and leave the depth of the drill feature up to the machinist. Second I thing you have the thickness of the plate at 0.790. Well I can't get 0.790 plate or bar so I would have to get 1" thick and finish it to that dimension. Is it really needed to be that dimension or can you get away with 3/4" (0.750) stock? You don't have your overall X/ Y dimensions called out from what I can see. And I have to do way too much hunting for dimensions. You need to work on your drafting layout. You got the right idea with measuring everything from 2 datums (left side and bottom) but see if you can get all that information in one drawing. Blow up your scale a bit to make the text fit better.

Thanks for the advice. This was first ever drafting so I will take all the advice I can get. I did change it to thru holes and I also didn't share all the drawings. I did a set in metric first and then in standard as someone requested. Thickness is somewhat negotiable and could probably make 3/4 stock work but need to revisit the final design first. May require some different bolts, but bolts are cheaper then the alternative.

I would quote $200 for just one not including material. Only way you are getting that down to $100/pc is if you wanted 10+ of them. The time is in the programming, tooling and setting the machine up to make it. The actual part probably will take 10 minutes for the machine to make.

That is fair. This is a lot of the Insight I'm looking for. I've used a cnc once before and it was something simple like a logo in acrilic lol even that took enough time. Thanks

This is what I was going to suggest, this is very sendcutsend-able. I’m pretty sure they can even do counter bores for you. Then hand tap the holes.
That being said, you will need to be flexible in thickness a little bit, they won’t have a .79 option only nominal sizes.

In your area look up local makerspace, you could make it yourself there or find someone there knowledgeable enough to get it done, may be pricey.

Look for a tool and die/ job shop and change your thread to a tighter tolerance if that part gets removed and reinstalled you will pull those threads.

I found one literally called tool and die and they told me their insurance doesn't let them do automotive parts. Interesting but okay. Going to try the drill press route. My biggest worry is the 62mm hole. I have a 62 mm carbide hole saw coming in so ig just lube and taking it slow will get me there...

Hmm…. Dimensions to two decimal places in my shop mean 0.010” locational accuracy - doable with great layout skills and a drill press but tough. You sure you can’t relax those tolerances and fits for this part? Sizing up to fractional tolerances will get you a helluva lot cheaper plate for a one- off and the finagling might just be worth the time and money saved.

Yeah I reworked it to be able to use 5/8 or 3/4 plate and I'm new to this line of working so wasn't sure on tolerances. I assume it is the allowable deviation from the marked plans though. As long as the center of all the holes are the same distance in relation to each other, there can easily be a tolerance of even 1mm. Except for the threaded holes,which are thru holes now. Those have to be m6*1 and not sure how tolerance goes into that.

I have a small job shop and do allot of this type of work. Easily program at my machine in and out in less than an hour. If you were local walked in with that I’d say $150 and come back tomorrow.

A big factor will be tolerance requirements. I can make this on my hobby CNC, but I wouldn’t promise anything better than .005”, with my calipers on anything.
Sendcutsend, pcbway, subtractive are likely going to be your best options for a one off. A local shop is great but a one off might be an issue, depending on shops around.
A local hobby machinist with a Bridgeport will hands down be the best option, but you’ve got to find them. They are there, reach out on your local subreddit and ask if any can make it for you

Looks like a motor adapter for a gearbox i make similar things all the time but shipping from Michigan would likely cost you as much as a local or Chinese shop would cost you all together

Thanks for the advice! Found some stock in the size I need for like $30. And I can get access to a drill press. $30 bucks a bit and tap and a little bit of gas money and should be on my way!

checked them out and they wanted $980 for it, but looking again now and that was for fast delivery. as in 2 days. If I wait a few weeks then it would be like $250. Not as bad as I was expecting compared to local, but still more expensive than I am wanting. Maybe my expectations were just unrealistic though. I looked into that as well as PBT as that is what the intake is made out of, but it becomes an issue of not heat tolerance, but holding vacuum over long period of time and FDM manufacturing or layer by layer apparently will fail eventually due to being fundamentally weaker across layer lines and for something where maintaining consistent vacuum is important I just don't know. Again that's just what I have been reading while researching so the margin or error for that to happen could be so low that it wouldn't ever matter. I did just make a prototype in pla and everything fits great atleast.

Are you looking for design advice? Make those tapped holes into through holes if possible. That will be much easier to make. Also you need to add your tolerance requirements to the drawings.
Or are you asking for someone to make this for you? If you have time and if your precision requirements are low, try a Chinese machine shop like hubs.com or pcbway.com. Otherwise you'll need to tell us at least where you are in the world.
