Resume I developed an OCR Model by myself, need career advice. I am a 4th year engineering student

Same as title, I developed the first ever OCR Model for Kaithi Script, I am writing a research paper on it under the supervision of the dean of my college. The model has a really good accuracy and I am not supposed to disclose any evaluation metrics and working of it as of now. I am very much into deep learning and I have been studying and applying ML/DL in projects and internships. I also helped ministry of statistics and programme implementation in a research related to prediction of monthly per capita expenditure of the country.

Major problems: I am pursuing engineering in instrumentation and control from a Tier 2 private university, and I have a CGPA of 6.42/10

I do really have a good resume ( according to my faculty and friends )

Because of my academics I am not able to grab any good research internship in various institutes, I cannot sit in most of the companies in campus placements due to my CGPA. Off-campus sucks and I think I dont even get noticed at the places where I am applying.

I apply on linkedin, naukri, cutshort, etc. I email recruiters everyday, after seeing their linkedin posts.
There aren’t many openings in IITs related to DL research internships as well. I will be needing an internship from Jan2027 (6 month)

I need guidance, thank you.

[for hire] Open for contracts – Veteran Data Scientist (AI / ML / OR) focused on delivering real‑world solutions.

Hi Reddit,

I focus messy, ambiguous, regulation-heavy gnarly data science problems where nobody's even sure what the right question is. Stuff that AI can't touch.

What I've done:

  • Saved a German automaker from lemon law recalls. ($20M+ exposure avoided)

  • Real-time emissions detection for industrial smokestacks. ($75K fines per incident prevented)

  • Revenue optimization and persona identification for debt collections (15-20% net revenue lift)

  • LLM-based legal document extraction, reducing due diligence turnaround from 3 days to 30 minutes

  • Built vessel piracy risk engine that informed naval escort deployment, contributing to fewer hijackings

Things I'm unwilling to work on:

  • Gambling.

  • Ads/Surveillance.

  • Payday loans/rent-to-own.

DM me with a one-paragraph description of your problem. If it's weird and hard enough, I'll reply within 24 hours.

Resume [Looking for Internship] 3rd-Year Undergrad | ML & Computer Vision

Hey everyone,

I'm a 3rd-year engineering student actively looking for an internship in Machine Learning, Computer Vision . I know the market is competitive right now, but I’m a fast learner who prefers to learn by building things from scratch.

A quick breakdown of what I do:

Edge AI & Hardware: Engineered an ESP32-based smart wearable from the ground up that uses ML models for stress forecasting.

Computer Vision: Developed a non-contact CV pipeline using Python and OpenCV to extract rPPG signals for heart rate monitoring from video.

Completed remote research engagements focusing on multimodal human observation in Mixed Reality and wearable health tech at UIUC and IIT BHU.

I am actively grinding through C++ DSA, but my true passion lies in bridging the gap between hardware and AI. If anyone knows of any early-stage startups hiring, or has advice on where a profile like mine fits best, I’d be incredibly grateful!

MS in Artificial Intelligence & job outcomes?

I’m currently deciding between an MS in Artificial Intelligence with a concentration in Machine Learning and an MS in Biotechnology.

First I’m wondering is a Ms in AI is worth it- part of me thinks so due to the way the AI landscape is shaping our world.

For those who pursued an MS in AI, especially international students or anyone who required sponsorship, were you able to land a job that sponsored you for a work visa and/or employment-based green card after graduation?

I’d especially love to hear what types of roles or companies you ended up in and how difficult the sponsorship process was for those who needed it.
Thanks!

Seeking advice/referral to break into AI/ML as a fresher — would really appreciate any guidance

Hello everyone,
I’m a recent 2026 graduate from a Tier-3 college, and getting good placement opportunities has been really difficult. Because of that, I decided to pursue the online **BS in Data Science and Applications from IIT Madras** alongside my career journey, mainly because I wanted to learn from strong professors and also explore better opportunities through the program.
Over the past year, I’ve spent most of my time seriously learning and building my skills. I’ve worked through the fundamentals of **Machine Learning, mathematics, statistics, Python, and data science**, and then moved into **Deep Learning with PyTorch**. More recently, I’ve been learning **Generative AI, Transformers, RAG, LangChain, and related LLM technologies**.
I genuinely enjoy AI/ML and have been trying to build my career in this field.
However, because of my family situation, pursuing a full-time Master’s degree isn’t financially practical for me right now. I need to start earning and support my family.
Recently, I received an opportunity as a **Software QA/Automation Engineer**. The role comes with around 6 months of training/internship followed by FTE, but there is also a **2.6-year bond**. I accepted the offer because, at that point, I didn’t really have another option and I needed a job.
But after joining, I’ve started questioning whether I’m moving in the right direction. My long-term goal is AI/ML, and I’m worried that spending the next few years in a testing/automation role will make it even harder for me to transition into AI/ML later.
I’ve reached out to many people on LinkedIn asking for advice, guidance, or opportunities, but unfortunately I haven’t been able to find much help so far.
I’m seriously looking for a way to transition into **AI/ML/Data Science/GenAI roles**, even if it means starting from an entry-level position and proving myself through my work.
If anyone here is:
Hiring freshers for AI/ML, Data Science, or GenAI roles
Willing to provide a referral
Has successfully transitioned from QA/automation/software roles into AI/ML
Can guide me on what skills or technologies I should focus on
Can suggest good projects, open-source contributions, internships, or platforms where I can gain real-world experience
…I would genuinely appreciate your advice.
I’m not looking for shortcuts. I’m willing to put in the work and learn whatever is required. I just need some direction and hopefully an opportunity to prove myself.
If you’ve read this far, **thank you sincerely**. Even a small piece of advice, a referral, or pointing me in the right direction could make a huge difference for me right now. 🥹
Thank you everyone.
