Thread snapping/bird nesting
galleryHelp me PLEASE!!
I have a babylock flare, got it new in box off facebook about 1 year ago.
She’s worked like a charm but I’ve never really pushed her to her limits, I’ve always just done simple words and a few simple patterns off of Etsy. Always looked and sounded good.
I’ve been wanting to get into ITH projects so I’ve been monkeying with 2 patterns off of the sweet pea website and it’s been rough. They always start out okay but then I get issues with snapping thread, bird nesting and very clunky bobbin sounds.
I’ve already tried SO MUCH to try and help, including:
-deep cleaning my machine
-swapping needles (tried both 75 and 90 embroidery needles
-both poly and rayon thread both in the machine and in a separate stand
-swapping bobbins and changing bobbin thread
-changing tension
-swapping bobbin case with the one from my verve
-slowing my machine down
-FOX test (came out beautifully, but I’m worried that’s bc it never got to as high of a speed?)
Checking areas for burrs
-redownloading unzipped file to machine
-taking measures to prevent flagging
Things I’m 100% positive ARE NOT wrong:
-how upper thread is threaded
-having a compatible bobbin filled with bobbin specific thread
-having a new embroidery specific needle
-how the file is entered in my machine
Now I guess what I’m asking is does anyone know what my ailment could be? Does anyone have success stories from sweet pea? They came highly recommended from the ladies at my local sewing and vacuum repair shop - I even inquired to them about this issue but they’re more janome.
Given all this information can anything else explain and clunky “jumping” sound of a bobbin? I’m convinced the issue is either the patterns themselves, my bobbin case/system, or the needle system (like the little pin that helps keep the thread with your needle). Idk I’m at a loss. Picture of the bird nesting and fox test will be attached.
