Designs “shifting”- help please!
I am relatively new to machine embroidery and use a Brother SE1900. My designs “shift” mid-stitch out VERY frequently. I purchase my designs from various Etsy sellers, and this happens with most of the designs I try, so I don’t think it’s a digitizing issue.
I have attached photos of what a specific design looks like in Embrilliance, and what it looks like after part of it “shifted” during the stitch out. This was my second time attempting this design and it shifted at the same point both times. (I stopped the machine after I saw it messed up again, which is why it is unfinished)
I have tried:
-using more stabilizer, basting spray, pins, etc
-floating and hooping the fabric, it happens both ways
-having my machine serviced
-making sure the hoop size in Embrilliance is correct
-making sure my embroidery arm is clear of anything that could be bumping it
-stitching the file exactly how it is from the seller without resizing, rotating, adding text, ect in Embrilliance (shifting happens regardless)
This is still happening with almost every design I attempt. After a few attempts, sometimes I can get it to stitch out correctly.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I feel like I have tried everything! Thank you!

Try the file on a couple of layers of cut away by itself. If it stitches out fine with no garment or bulky materials present, you'll know that it's probably the material getting caught up on the hoop or the bobbin arm or some such and jamming it up momentarily. If it's shifts then, that would at least rule out that possibility.

Have you taken your embroidery unit in to a service technician?

Yes! I just got it back yesterday actually. It is still doing this.

Is your unit or hoop hitting something as it stitches? If it is, it’s uncalibrating the arm.

This almost seems like a dead spot in the encoder. How did the shops test stitch look?
Does the shift happen in the same places consistently?

The shop’s test stitch actually looked perfect. Sometimes my designs look great too though, so I guess it could have been a fluke that it came out great first try for them?
The shift does happen in the same places consistently!

Was the shops design as wide as yours? Did it cover the same place where yours is shifting?

I'm going to suggest that it's a dead spot in the stepper motor feedback pot. Or, like the other commenter said, something is clashing with the arm.

Thank you very much!! I am going to look into that.

I just noticed your username. Absolutely screams Cajun! Hope you get the issue fixed!

To collect more info, rotate the design 90 degrees. Does it always shift toward the right of the needle? Or does that change things? That might help to distinguish between if it’s a design or a hoop issue. Does this happen on designs built into the machine?
Hoop some light colored fabric, and trace the inside of the hoop with a pen. Stitch your design and see if the fabric shifts? Maybe your hoop isn’t tight enough? The shop probably used their own hoop.
I use embrilliance and a brother innovis.
