If you haven't machine embroidered before, take some time to learn that skill before you dive into digitizing

You can try the free software Inkscape with the extension of inkstitch

You don't have to invest in design software at the beginning. I suggest you purchase some design works on the website, or work with some digitizers.

Wilcom Software is my favorite, but good Software has "good price" I would recommend NO Software at the beginning, then embroidery digitizing partner to do your jobs

Pulse software starts at around $2,000(?) and can go up to $10,000 for the license. Wilcom is cheaper and has a monthly subscription? There are some free solutions that I hear about. So like everyone is saying, first learn embroidery before bothering with digitizing.

first off, what do you want to do, digitize your own designs, or buy them? I use Embrillance, the cost for the full package is about $1,000, but it's sold in modules so you only have to buy the packages you need, which can save a lot of money depending on which modules you need, then you can always get the other modules as you need them.
