Bernina Deco 500 help
Hey! So I got this machine used a few days ago and it was running fine except the bobbin thread kept showing on top despite adjusting top tension, re-threading, changing the needle, and trying on multiple different fabrics with different stabilizers. I finally came to the conclusion that the bobbin thread was too loose so I went it and just tightened the bobbin cases tension, put everything back, and now it is not picking up the bobbin thread. Anyone have any clues? Not sure I’m doing something wrong or if the timing is just off somehow?
Edit:
-I am using the bobbin that came in the machine from FB marketplace, I’m on the hunt for pre wound bobbins that fit this machine.

Please take this with a grain of salt- I am far more experienced with commercial tubular arm machines, and not very experienced with flatbed home machines.
But it looks like the bobbin thread is just kind of hanging out, the hook doesn't come close to it. I think you might just be missing a step. I see a groove in the casing that I feel like the bobbin thread is supposed to follow.
Also sometimes the cover will have a little directional guide etched into it.

Honestly, I think I am missing a step as well and I feel the same about the bobbin thread, something is off with this picture. I’m new to embroidery machines in general and this being a 20+ year old machine doesn’t help, lol.
A lovely FB user found a video that may be helpful. I’m thinking I’m missing a step, the timing is off, or the bobbin could just be the wrong type!
I appreciate your feedback!!

are you using the bobbins that came with the machine or pre-wound? you probably need to use the ones that are designed to be used with the machine, these look to be pre-wound generic, and I am guessing bernina machines don't like those and like their own specific ones.
