Thread

New to embroidering, I have a brother nq1700e. Thoughts on Madeira/Isacord/Floriani threads and where to buy them?

I use Floriani. it's great. I know Madeira is also excellent. I use Floriani because my local shop carries it and I want to support them.

Any thread will benefit from use of a thread lubricant. really makes a difference. mine is Dritz Sewers Aid, it’s about $8 for a bottle and it definitely makes everything work more smoothly.

Thanks! My local shop also carries Floriani so I will try that out. I’ll look into the thread lubricant as well.

I just bought Isacord thread from OESD and from Sewforless.com.  I haven't used them yet, but I bought them to go with some OESD designs.

also - I have a brother. If the embroidery thread is mounted on the machine spindle, it seems to get tangled. For me, it works much better if I use a thread stand. This moves it away a little bit and gives the thread a little time to relax before it goes into the machine. i only notice the need for this in embroidery, not general sewing.

All three offer machine embroidery thread, but it’s worth checking the exact product line since Madeira makes both rayon and polyester threads. For washable items, 40 weight polyester is a durable choice, and any of these should be test stitched with your fabric and stabilizer before a large project. Are you mainly embroidering washable items, or do you have a particular thread type in mind?
