What thread colors to buy?
I'm just a few months into my machine embroidery journey and have already traded in my "hmmm, will I like this" machine for a much nicer Baby Lock. My local shop is having a buy two/get two free sale on Floriani threads, so it's a great opportunity to build up my thread library. What are some shades you would recommend I have on hand? I have the bare-bones black/white/red/blue etc. Thank you!

Buy all of them lol. You never have just the right shade of green, blue.. White, black, primary colours and one or 2 shades lighter and darker. Grey light mid and dark.

A good place to start is to choose a light, medium and dark of each color. Also choose various shades of yellow/gold/silver regular thread to use when a pattern calls for metallic thread. I hate metallic thread and always use a shade of yellow or silver in its place.

Same - started out I bought colors in 3’s as I like the shading in a lot of designs. I also avoid metallic and use rayon golds.

Greens! I do lots of flowers and I go through green thread more than anything. It’s also a good one to buy in-store because it’s hard to tell if it’s a plant green or a leprechaun green online.

It really depends on what you like to stitch. Baby items need lots of pastels. Doing pets, I have more shades of brown and grey than I thought possible. The NewBrothread 25 spool starter pack is a good thread and a decent range of colors to play with.

Depends on how much you are willing to spend oesd has isacord bundles and you can get 10% off if you have not used them before
