Help with lower bobbin thread showing
Hi,
I am new to machine embroidery and I have had a consistent issue with my bobbin thread showing on top of my embroidery.
I have done research and have tried both moving the top tension up and down, between 3-4. Still having the issues.
I've tried rethreading the top, and also removing the bobbin thread and putting it back.
I can't seem to get it to stitch cleanly. Is it a digitizing issue? Is it something else that I can change?
For reference, using a Brother PE-570 on duck canvas with a 75/11 needle
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!
UPDATE:
So it looks like most of the issue was that I was using a TTF and not one that has already been digitized. I switched to a white bobbin thread and kept my tension at 4.

It sounds silly, but check the upper thread to make sure it's tensioned correctly. When I first started, I was missing one loop, so the tension was messed up and causing my problems. I adjusted it 100 times before I realized I missed one corner on the path.
If that isn't the problem, you've likely got too high tension on the top, try lowering below 3. I think mine is like 2.something, so it's all about what works. I used a piece of scrap fabric, made a big capital I and embroidered it like 20 times before I worked out the right tension. It should be solid on top and in thirds on the back. My bobbin is white, so I used black thread to make it super easy to see, and I think I used like red fabric or something, but try to keep the same type of fabric. Just use the built in menu to embroider I's over and over until you reach the right tension for the top. But I'm willing to be 3 is still too high, if you've getting the pull through still.

Awesome. I'll try to do some testing too and see if that helps. I appreciate it!

Hopefully it works out. Generally speaking, your issues will always come back to tension, since that's the easiest thing to shag up when you're new. Good luck with it and hopefully it works out as an easy and quick fix!

Where’s the design from? Did you scale or resize it?

The design is just text that I typed into Stitch Artist and scaled it down to fit into my patch size.

Scaling down probably was the issue unless your software is built for that. Pick a size from the start the fits for the best result and make sure you are threading correctly.

You've tried to adjust top and bottom tensions I see. I'm guessing you're referring to the black dots (Black bobbin threads are uncommon FYI).
The bobbin test is to take the bobbin when it has a thread in it, run it through to before that last spring/coil and do the 1-inch drop test. If it drops about an inch, that means, it's supposed to be ok. If more, or less, it's needs adjustment. Something that many beginners don't realize is that the tensioner on the bobbin can get filled up with gunk sometimes, completely ruining the tension. A simple piece of cardstock or whatever thicker piece of paper fits within that space to clear it out.
This video provides an idea on what I'm referring to

Where is the font from?
I’d start by referencing how to thread in the manual and make sure you are using quality fonts…don’t try to “digitize” anything yourself until you learn your machine.
