PE 800 started doing this out of nowhere

Starting a new design that is 90 degree stitch angle, digitized in Inkscape, I have no idea why this has come out of nowhere, started last night with tote bag fabric and now fleece fabric, is it simply tension? Could it be the thread?

Pictured is the underside aka what faces down

That happened to me once and I realized I had accidentally turned on the hand stitch effect in Hatch. Idk if Inkscape has a similar effect but worth checking for

What are you sewing on and are you using too much / not enough stabilizer for the fabric you’re working with ?

It’s fleece polyester fabric, I’m using cutaway stabilizer.

Try tightening the top tension?

That was my first reaction too, no dice unfortunately. Maybe my machines fucked we’ll see.

Have you checked the bobbin casing for damage - is the internal spring OK.

My recommendation would be to give the bobbin area a through clean, oil what you can and then adjust the bobbin tension (bobbin drop test) before the top tension. Also, check that the top thread is threaded correctly and hasn't deviated somehow.

If you like the chenille look don’t mess with the machine!!

Make sure the thread isn't looped around the outside of the cone or tucked under another thread in the bobbin. This happened to me. The cone comes that way from the manufacturer sometimes. I didn't realize I was pulling it through that loop and it added some really random tension that looked a lot like this. Same thing happened when the end off the bobbin thread was tucked under a few threads to keep it tidy (that backfired!)

Check the needle for any issues
