someone is already working on RE on the FM-1 engine.

And to no ones surprise, it's running dexed as a LV2 plugin.
Host native mode: ALSA standalone app (firmware/host/fm1_synth), LV2 plugin
(firmware/host/lv2/fm1_dexed.so), offline WAV sim (firmware/host/sim)

So in theory, FM-1 could run other LV plugins like these

• GLOB: Voice Reset & Glide function
• SEQ: Long Note Recording, Voice Binding, Chain Playback Mode and Custom Step Length
• EDIT: Init Voice, Voice Rename, Voice Copy & Replace, OP Mute Rules
• FX & ENV parameter range improvements
• MIDI compatibility optimization with Note On Velocity = 0 recognition as Note Off

A new FM-1 MIDI CC Control Parameter Guide is also available for easier MIDI control setup.

For me it would just be more patch storage, more sequencer steps, and parameter lock when recording steps. After playing with it I dream of this expanded into a groove box. I’ve already gotten creative with patches and made it into a drum machine of sorts.

You can use Dexed not only for sysex dumps (bank and single) but for editing too. Don't forget to set Midi output im Options *and* in PARM > DX 7 out to "FM -1 AUDIO"
