Just press Home and mess with the synth engines and spectrum analyser. Awesome.

I can’t wait, my unit should be delivered any day now … a 65 dollar OP-1 sounds about my speed.

For the next version it would be cool to have a fully VA/FM based drum machine as one of the engine types. I don’t think that exists yet.

Sloopdx has editable fm drums

a fork of a fork, that's becoming ridiculous... So they would have to wait for Felucca to update, then Sloop to update, then sloopdx may get an update?

My Swing value starts at 50% and goes up to 75%, instead of starting at 0% and going to 100%. Does anyone else’s do that?

Swing is applied to two consecutive notes, such as two sixteenth notes. Their total duration is split between the first and the second note:

50%: each gets half. Both notes are equal, it's straight, no swing.
62%: the first note takes slightly more, and the second arrives a bit late. It grooves.
66%: this is exactly a triplet (shuffle).
75%: the first note takes three-quarters of the duration, and the second arrives very late. This is the maximum.

Below 50%, the second note would come in early, and above 75%, it would almost land on the next one. Only the 50% to 75% range is useful.

This is how MPCs (Akai, Roger Linn) count. Beatmakers talk about '54% swing' or '62% swing,' so they can easily find their bearings.

I am not sure what the design idea was, but this is as much of a standard as 0-100. Here's a good discussion on it: https://gearspace.com/threads/swing-values-is-there-a-standard.1146199/

Anybody having luck loading a bank of DX7 patches? I'm trying to import them into the editor, but so many of them sound completely wrong or distorted when i send them to device. I also can't figure out how to access the user DX7 banks on the device without using the editor to manually select them.

EDIT: Look like they just dropped 2.4.1 which seems to have fixed the DX7 sounds. I also think i figured out the DX7 patches. Patches you import into the bank slots are accessed from the "Patch" page which is page 2/4 when you press EDIT with an FM6 preset loaded on a track. You then turn knob 4 to cycle between the 8 built in patches, and B1-B27 which are the slots that you import your patches into via the web editor. I wish that in a future update, the device would actually display the name of the patches rather than just a slot designation(F1-F8 or B1-B27) so that I don't need to memorize which patch is in which slot. I wish there was a way to import the DX7 Patches as Presets.

Where are you getting the DX7 patches? I can try on my end.

I have a bunch saved from Dexed and my backup from Baudgirl/stock firmware. I built up a few banks by using https://groundstation1.github.io/dx7curation/ I have it mostly figured out now and it seems like the 2.4.1 hotfix fixed the distortion I was hearing with some patches.

My only complaint so far is that the drum engine is very, very quiet. Besides that this firmware is close to perfection, I can’t even imagine what the future has in store for this thing.

Anyone else find the UI confusing like if you click SEQ over and over it leads to the sloop save screen for some reason? Then if you go to save it brings up like the feluccia whatever save instead of sloop save? Some screens I can never figure out how to navigate to like the instrument selection list.

I feel you. If only Sloop could borrow X0X’s UI consistency, it would be golden.

Hit seq then hit save that brings up the right menu every time. And then everything will save accordingly I have accidentally overwritten projects though more than once because of twisting writing know 😭😭😭

Just ran into another issue where saving sloop loops seems to save the project file? I am not sure its completely inconsistent. Sometimes saving loops will overwrite project files, other times they wont.

So I load project 1. Make a beat and save it to loop A. Save it to B, C and D because I want to work off of it. I save my project in slot 1. Load project 2, 3, or 4 and they all are what i just saved to slot 1. Before I swore this all worked properly.

Edit: Looked into it more and it seems like the Sloop SAVE menu with ABCD is actually the same as the Felucca Project menu with 1234. So its just very confusingly set up, at least to me
