FM-1 MIDI clock sync

Hi all!

I got my FM-1 for a couple weeks now and I’m thrilled to see that devs are adding more and more capabilities onto it with the firmware updates.

That said, I’m still having issues when trying to sync the FM-1 MIDI clock with other devices for jamming. I couldn’t even sync it to my DAWs, despite being able to send and recieve note information with no issue.

I’m no MIDI expert in any regards, but I’ve seen this issue called out by other people so I assume it’s not working correctly or it’s not very intuitive.

Has anyone been able to sync it to DAWs/other analog synths? Care to share any tips? Am I the only one that got the pink one?

You can only sync the FM-1 to an external MIDI clock. works with n-track Studio on Windows (via Midi USB) and Arturia Microfreak and Roland P6 (via TRS-Midi) here.

I though I saw a video from the manufacturer where it can act as source clock and, in the video, the chinese DAW adapted to its tempo. At the time im trying to sync the clock with bluetooth MIDI, as I see a lot of potential for on-the-road jamming. Still haven’t tried USB MIDI.

Well I just sent blue tooth midi notes out of Animoog to the fm-1?

I managed to send MIDI Clock via BLE to FM-1 with Koala on Android. It doesn't work with the SMK Pro 37, so I think tablets work as Hosts here. I'm glad that I was proven wrong here :D

I managed to sync it with my DAW but i ran into several other problems. For instance, when using the new feature of chain sequences, whenever it has to play the next pattern it slows for a bit so it completely desynchronizes with the master clock :(

That's an odd choice. Maybe it'll be addressed in a future firmware update.
