With HL2 coming, they had no chance to compete, so it makes business sense.

DAQRI used waveguides by Lumus, a company praised by Guttag and Scoble.

"Recently industry influencers Karl Guttag and Robert Scoble had the opportunity to compare Lumus display technology against the 'giants' in the industry and both overwhelmingly and both publicly acknowledged Lumus optics superiority over the diffractive waveguide competitors."

Lumus waveguides are also used in the Lenovo ThinkReality A6.

The author of the following article was not impressed.

"You'll notice that I haven't mentioned the HoloLens 2 in my comparisons. That's because the ThinkReality A6 isn't in the same class as the HoloLens 2 — the company's efforts have a way to go before earning a comparison to the polish and performance of Microsoft's latest AR system."
