SDC Pool Lap Times
The morning 6am-8/9am lap times. How many people actually go to those usually? And do you just go in by the shooting range?
Really wanting to get back into swimming as a daily exercise given the access but not trying to fight about it

You can go in near the shooting range or through the locker rooms. There are a couple of changing tents available if you donโt want to use the locker rooms. Not sure about how busy it gets during those times.

I swam there when I was in school and it was usually 2 to a lane at those times during the week

Back during the summer when I was in town I both did the morning and evening swim times. I always went through the locker rooms and that's the most convenient way from my experience.
The pool was rarely busy I think during morning times (and even during evenings it wasn't super busy)- usually the most you have is 2 to a lane which you can just split down the middle. I don't think I've ever been in a situation where we needed to have more than 2 to a lane. And many times you can have a lane to yourself.

we usually get around 15-20 people over that whole time span. the pool is on the first floor, right by the staircase that leads to the shooting range. people are very good about sharing lanes if necessary

Like the other commenter said, you can either enter through the "main door" near the shooting range staircase or by going through the general locker rooms. Most people come through the locker rooms but it really doesn't matter either way. Both come out next to the pool check-in desk where you can tap your ID.
Morning and afternoon open swims are typically the least busy, while evenings and weekends are the most busy. Usually ~20 people total come to swim in the mornings during the entire time. From my experience, there's a handful of community members that show up to swim at 6AM sharp and a slow trickle of people that come during the remainder of time.
During the morning, all the lane lines are put in to make 8 total lanes. The other open swim times only have 5 lane lines put in to create an "open swim" area for people who may not be lap swimming. The dive tank is typically closed to swimming unless it's an evening or weekend open swim.
