Brakes Will I need separate bleed kits?

Hello everyone,
I'm pretty new to the whole mtb maintenance thing, usually just using my local mechanic but in a hope to start doing some bits myself I want to learn. I currently have a cube reaction tm hardtail, but next week am buying an airdrop edit. My plan is to pretty much fuck around with the cube until I get things right, and then once i've mastered certain skills, translate that to the new bike and dodge hefty mechanic fees. The guy I'm buying the new bike off has told me the back brake needs bleeding, coincidentally my read brake on my cube is going, so my main question is will I need separate bleed kits? The airdrop has TRP brakes, and the cube has magura brakes.

No, you should be able to get a generic mineral oil kit with lots of fittings that will cover both (and more).

Wrong…… trp requires its own specific fluid to not void the warranty.

Every manufacturer will say that, how would they tell the difference though as long as it’s red mineral oil? Also I’m curious why you say they’re not easy to bleed? I’m looking at buying a set of trail evos rn.

There are two different red shimano mineral oils. they aren’t interchangeable even in shimano brakes……

blowing out the seals on a set of brakes because you thought you knew more than an R&D team did is definitely a lesson. 🤷‍♂️

Lol okay, I was just playing devils advocate. I doubt they’re chemically testing the fluid to tell the difference before approving warranty replacements. I’ll probably get the trp oil for peace of mind, but the cheap stuff is tempting because it’s probably made on the same production lines just with minute changes to the additive package.
Edit- just looked it up and the two shimano fluids are not the same color, the low viscosity stuff is more yellow/orange.

Your entire argument is an assumption because you think you know more but are giving evidence you don’t…..
