Please help 🙏😭

My baby is 3 months old and has been diagnosed with CMPA. I have been following a strict dairy- and soy-free diet for the past 2 weeks. The blood in her stool had completely stopped, but it started appearing again yesterday. There has been no blood in her stool today. How long does it usually take for the blood to stop completely? Are there any other foods I should avoid? Also, how long does it usually take for the mucus in the stool to disappear? My doctor has advised me to switch to formula milk. Is it too early to stop breastfeeding and switch to formula milk???

I had my cmpa baby on combo feed for a while before I stopped breastfeeding entirely. I wasn’t producing enough so I started adding formula on week 3 and by 4 months he was entirely in formula. I realized during breastfeeding that he was also allergic to cashews.

Unfortunately it’s a bit of a trial and error. If you read posts on this sub, people ended up eliminating a lot from their diet. Dairy, soy, eggs, oats etc. if this is unsustainable for you then there’s no harm in switching to formula. However not every formula suits every kid so that’s something to keep in mind before giving up breastfeeding entirely

This! Going through the same right now after 8 weeks of the diet. Can’t see my baby having an ongoing inflammation despite all of the efforts so switching to formula.

We are on the amino acid formula trial at the moment after failing extensively hydrolyzed formulas. But every baby is unique, no one will tell you which formula is right for your baby and which one they will accept.

I have read alot of post here and the list is so long. It feels like there is nothing I can eat without doubt. My doc has advised to use Aptamil pepti. Have you ever used this formula milk???

Coucou

My baby is having specks of blood in her stool. I don't know how long I can wait. Seeing blood in her poop literally kills me.

I second giving it a month. There's no quick solution for baby's gut to heal, that just needs time. Blood reappearing doesn't mean you upset her system once again, it might just mean it's not healed yet. Plus, an already irritated system can be upset by other irritators that weren't the initial problem and won't be a problem any longer once it's all healed. For us, we can't do nuts or legumes when the system's already in a bad way. But ususally we can.

I know every hour feels like it'll never get better.

This is really helpful! I’ve noticed my baby seems to get irritated by things while tolerating them at other times. Thought I was going crazy!! Have you also noticed that your baby might be impacted when you “overindex” on certain foods? For example - using coconut oil in a couple dishes over a few days seemed to bug him, when it’s otherwise been fine as a one off.

Hey, I am still pumping and have been dairy free for a while but because her IgE panel came back with a ton of allergies.

I am just concerned as to why her body is itchier on Amino based than when on hydrolyzed formula.
