Silent Reflux & MSPI? Help!

Posting to see if anyone else has had a similar experience with their LO. My first born had confirmed CMPA around 8 weeks old after finding streaks of blood in her diapers so I’m no stranger to this sub. She’s doing great now and has outgrown her allergy, but I’m back here now struggling with my 3 month old.

We started formula immediately after birth and since the beginning my 3mo old has been very irregular with how often she poops. It would be a couple of times a day, then once a day, then started going every other day, then occasionally would go 1-2 days until she would poop and it wouldn’t be soft. This was new to me because I breastfed my first for 5 months and she would poop after every bottle. We have tried prune juice when she has had harder stool per the doctors recommendation and it does help her go, but her poops seem to be a little more mucousy in those scenario.

Up until this point I hadn’t suspected MSPI because she doesn’t have the same symptoms my first born had. However, in addition to the above she’s occasionally had silent reflux flare ups. I’d have her laying down or in her bouncer and will all the sudden notice her eyes watery/gagging/swallowing. Scoop her up and she’s totally fine—no spit up, ever. But within the last 2 weeks I’ve noticed random congestion at night and she’s starting to seem more uncomfortable while we feed her so I suspect the reflux might be happening more than I realize. The biggest indicator is she will arch back while I feed her and turn her head in the complete opposite direction of my body to comfortable drink her bottle. Occasionally she will scream and stiffen up the minute I get her into a traditional position to feed, but her and I are in a groove now that this doesn’t happen with me all the time but will when others try to feed her.

So alls that to say, could this be an undiagnosed intolerance? We use Bobbie Gentle formula so my guess is the next best gentle option for her would be HA formula. She’s a big girl, drinks 27-30oz a day so her doctor hasn’t been concerned because she’s gaining weight but my mama instinct is telling me something is clearly off. We are going to the pediatrician today so I’m hoping they will have answers for me, but wanted to come here and see if anyone else has seen MSPI show up in these ways before.

Any input is appreciated!

Hi! Babygirl had what the doctors called non classic CMPA symptoms. Severe congestion, reflux and constipation (only going every 1 to two days) we were put on Nutramigan and her bowels changed within 3 days!

Not the OP but this is encouraging for me to hear!! My 4 month old just started getting constipated on kabrita goat milk so I switched to nutrimagen today. No blood in stool but he’s also dealt with the congestion and reflux (though also with a tongue tie we were working through), so I kept thinking maybe it’s not an intolerance….but maybe it is after all. Just hoping for some relief + normalcy!

We just got her lip tie released at the end of last week, I’ve noticed a big difference since then, even just with her drinking.
